It’s been a pretty successful year for Capcom thus far. The company released its second-quarter and first-half fiscal year 2023 financials, with performance in line with current forecasts. It has a big release in Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney Trilogy, out in January 2024. However, what about the unannounced “major title” it discussed earlier this year that would sell millions?
Though it hasn’t announced the title in question, Capcom has reiterated that it’s still releasing in the second half of fiscal year 2023 by March 31, 2024, at the latest. In a recent Q&A, it was asked how it would achieve its sales goal of 45 million copies. It replied (translation via Resetera), “In the second half of this fiscal year, we plan to release Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney Trilogy in January in addition to a currently unannounced major title.
“Moreover, we plan to boost the sales figures of new titles in the first half of this fiscal year to achieve the target.” Again, no details on what the project is, but it could very well be announced in the coming months.
You could assume that it’s Pragmata or Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess, with the former delayed to an unknown date and the latter not having a release window. However, the keyword is “unannounced”, and the only titles that shift so many millions in a short period are Resident Evil or Monster Hunter. Perhaps it’s related to the Monster Hunter tease from the 20th anniversary video? Time will tell, so stay tuned for more updates.
