Bye Sweet Carole release pushed back to 2025

The Horrors of Bunny Hall and Corolla await you next year!

Bye Sweet Carole

Let’s take another look at Bye Sweet Carole, the upcoming Disney-inspired chilling horror adventure created by Italian game designer Chris Darril. Developed by Little Sewing Machine and Meangrip Game Studios and published by Maximum Entertainment, this game is one of the most anticipated titles in the indie gaming scene, having already attracted considerable attention from horror enthusiasts. For more details about the game, check out our main coverage here.

In a recent update posted on the game’s Steam page, the developers shared exciting details about the significant enhancements they’ve been working on. However, they also announced that the game’s release has been officially postponed to 2025. Here’s the developers’ statement:

Dear rabbits,

It’s been a while since our last development update, and today we’re thrilled to showcase some of the latest improvements to the game.

We’ve been working tirelessly to craft a beautiful and emotional experience, but as anyone who’s developed a game knows, it’s no easy feat. Therefore, we’ve made the difficult decision to push the release of Bye Sweet Carole to 2025. This extra time will allow us to further enhance the quality of the gameplay and art that originally captivated you.’”

Post on X announcing the delay of Bye Sweet Carole to 2025

As the developers have revealed, the decision to delay Bye Sweet Carole was a challenging but necessary step to refine and expand the game beyond its current scope. This includes plans for a simultaneous release on PC via Steam and consoles (Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S), as well as significant efforts on the game’s voice acting, which requires additional time to meet the developers’ high standards.

Here’s a brief overview of the major changes the team is working on:

  • Lighting Effects: Feedback indicated that the game’s overall aesthetic was too dark, so the developers are addressing this by adding more lighting effects. This will provide clearer visuals and better showcase the game’s beautiful art.
  • User Interface: The developers have recently shared an updated version of the UI, though it is still undergoing iterations. Extensive research is being conducted to design the best UI for the game, given that players will control and transform multiple characters. This process involves a complete overhaul of the menu system and HUD to ensure functionality for each character.
  • Cutscene Rework: The team is dedicating more time to reworking every animation frame from the cutscenes to ensure a cohesive art style that aligns with the 2D artists’ vision.
  • Gameplay Reworks: Revamping much of the gameplay is crucial to creating a tense atmosphere for players. The goal is to heighten the player’s senses, akin to what one would experience in a great horror game or film. This includes moments of suspense, such as holding Lana’s breath, hiding, or confronting Mr. Kyn and other enemies encountered during the journey.

These changes will require considerable time, effort, and dedication. We believe that the additional time the developers are taking will ensure the best possible product while staying true to the creator’s original vision. Although we were eager to experience the game during the cold winter nights of 2024, we support and appreciate this decision.

Bye Sweet Carole is now planned for release in 2025 for Nintendo Switch, PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. To stay up-to-date with the latest developments, follow us and check the game’s X page for new details on Chris Darril’s chilling upcoming adventure.

That’s all for now. Stay tuned for more updates!
