Legendary actor Robert De Niro has been doing everything in his power to make us forget his iconic roles and instead regard him as an unhinged zealot maniacally obsessed with former president and current GOP presumptive nominee Donald Trump. His embarrassing outbursts have shown that maybe he wasn’t acting when he played all those vicious thugs that made him famous.

But now even Hollywood is taking note, as a broadcasters group has yanked their support for the Raging Bull.
A broadcasters trade association is pulling a philanthropy award it had planned to give to Robert De Niro after the actor bashed former President Donald Trump on behalf of the Biden campaign earlier this week.
The National Association of Broadcasters has revoked its award and invitation to the Celebration of Service to America awards event to De Niro because the group thought his recent work and comments on behalf of the president’s re-election campaign would “create a distraction.”

The apoplectic actor appeared at a Biden campaign event outside the Manhattan courtroom where Donald Trump was being tried—despite the administration’s continued denials that this affair was not a political vendetta. De Niro sounded like he thought he was in the middle of a Joe Stalin-like purge:
“I don’t mean to scare you. No, wait, maybe I do mean to scare you,” De Niro, 80, said during the presser organized by President Biden’s camp. “If Trump returns to the White House, you can kiss these freedoms goodbye that we all take for granted.”
The broadcasters association tried to use nice words to describe their disassociation with the deranged thespian, but the simple fact is that they clearly wanted nothing to do with him after his outburst:
“While we strongly support the right of every American to exercise free speech and participate in civic engagement, it is clear that Mr. De Niro’s recent high-profile activities will create a distraction from the philanthropic work that we were hoping to recognize,” said Alex Siciliano, NAB’s senior vice president of communications. “To maintain the focus on service of the award winners, Mr. De Niro will no longer be attending the event.”
De Niro tried to deflect the smackdown, but his hollow words don’t detract from the fact that he was removed from consideration for an award that the aging egotist certainly must have coveted:
“I support the work of the NAB Leadership Foundation and would like to express my appreciation and gratitude for what the Foundation has done and will continue to do for the good of us all, and I wish them well for their continued good work,” De Niro told The Hill in a statement.
Yeah, sure, Bob, you’re thrilled that you’ve just been slapped in the face by an organization that only wanted to honor you. We’ve seen a lot of disgraceful activity during the Trump witch hunt, but De Niro’s antics place near the top. I’m sort of stunned that even a Hollywood organization said, “Enough is enough.”
But good that they did.
