And they leave… We have to push sweet William! Euphrates and Kyprios, stablemates, lead and dictate the pace… Burdett Road pulls very hard… The pace is a constant, commanded by Aidan O'Brien's partner… Now the pace accelerates… Sweet William makes a challenge… Kyprios and Sweet William fight came out, but Kyprios won a race that was under his constant control! And it was O'Brien's first victory in the meet since 2019.

Preview of the Long Distance Cup (1:20 p.m.)

The first and, in all likelihood, the only probability of the card. Cyprus, One of the best to remain in recent decades, he looks to improve in 2022 and complete an undefeated seven-race season. By now his schedule has been synonymous with racing, including Group One wins in the Gold Cup at Ascot, the Goodwood Cup, the Irish St Leger and the Catron Arc at Longchamp at the weekend. Kybrios sat out this race two years ago, but after an injury-plagued campaign last year he is the favorite. Come back with a short neck Trawler Kyprios already has six races to his name this season, and a win on soft ground at the Arc meeting in Paris two weeks ago, combined with his trainer's poor record on this card where horses drop back quickly after Longchamp, makes him One of my favorites, and when nair After switching to Tom Glover's revamped stable, I'll be fresh trawler Repeat last year's success.

At the end of a long season and often in a proving ground, this is not usually a meeting to back cheap favorites, but punters are stuck. Oddschecker informs me that the three best-backed horses so far are:

Cyprus 4/5 (1:20 p.m.)
Sarin 4/7 (3:15 p.m.)
Kalantaka 4/6 (15.35)
Triple, they tell me, pays 11-1.

It's not the end of the flat grass season yet, but champions will be crowned today, including top jockey Oisin Murphy.

Is #ChampionsDay!
Picking up the Jockey Championship trophy means hours on the road, dedication to my weight and focus on riding the winners every day. But I couldn't have done it without all the support. Thank you and I will be more than happy to lift the trophy at 2.50pm. pic.twitter.com/9Tb18gpEIG

A beautiful afternoon from Ascot, where the rain has continued for the last 12 hours (hopefully) on Britain's most prestigious afternoon of racing – Qipco Champions Day, £4.1 million and four Group One races.

The track raised its expectations on Friday night to a crowd of 29,000, not far from the arrival to see Frankie Tettori bring the curtain down on his British career 12 months ago. The last thing anyone wanted was a wet start to the day, as walk-in ticket sales could take at least a slight hit. There are even patches of blue sky from time to time over the Berkshires.

Like last year, the action in the circuit's three rounds will take place on a narrow indoor layout due to running concerns. Not a great look for a day designed to celebrate the summer code that has finished the Ascot Steeplechase three of the last six years, but it didn't bother anyone too much 12 months ago and the size of the field was unusually strong, So many observers did not notice that the runners were a little off ideal.

The Champion Stakes, with £1.3m in the pot, comes in at 3.55 and overnight rain appears to be behind a distinctive move in Francis-Henry Crawford's favour. Calandhagan, In this morning's race on soft ground with 12 furlongs to rest. The King Edward VII Stakes winner is now priced at 13-8 with his three-year-old companion. economy, Winner of the Irish Champion Stakes, big at 9-4.

sarin, Another winner at June's Royal Meeting, the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes, leads the market at about 13-8 in the 3:15 mile straight, while rising talent Kalpana No one knows which runner will be the fillies' and mares' favorite and the bettors' choice for the 16-runner sprint.

You can follow all the action from the first race to the last (the only handicap on the card, at 4:35) in our live blog, and when we win the Double Gold Cup at 1:20, following the track, CyprusWe will try to get preferred sponsors in the Long Distance Cup.
