Black Ops 6 Confirms Return of Wunderwaffe and Liberty Falls Details

A new cinematic trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has revealed more details about the Liberty Falls Zombies map and confirmed the return of the fan-favorite Wunderwaffe weapon. This new map will be showcased at the upcoming Call of Duty NEXT event, which will reveal new information about Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and future Warzone updates.

The release of Black Ops 6 marks the long-awaited return of Treyarch’s signature round-based Zombies mode and Call of Duty’s traditional Prestige system for multiplayer. Alongside a variety of multiplayer game modes and maps, Black Ops 6 will launch with two Zombies maps: Terminus Island and Liberty Falls. The Terminus map appears to take inspiration from Black Ops 2’s Mob of the Dead map, while Liberty Falls brings players to an American town setting. Details about the Liberty Falls map were relatively scarce until now, as Activision and Treyarch’s new Black Ops 6 trailer reveals information about what players can expect.

The newly released Black Ops 6 Liberty Falls cinematic trailer reveals that Edward Richtofen is a central character in the new map, which is set in West Virginia on February 18, 1991. The trailer begins in a lucid dream, as Richtofen recounts his pleasant life with his wife and son. Richtofen slowly realizes that not all is well after all, with one of Richtofen’s assistants revealing that interdimensional breaches are happening in the facility containing Sam. Richtofen takes action and picks up the iconic Wunderwaffe DG-2 weapon to fend off Zombies, helps one of the guards, and heads down to the facility to confront Sam, who appears to be an AI this time in Black Ops 6 instead of a young girl.

During the Call of Duty NEXT event in Washington D.C. on August 28, select content creators will play Liberty Falls in Black Ops 6, making this the first public showcase for the map. The event will also reveal more details about Black Ops 6’s multiplayer component and the future of Warzone heading into the launch of Black Ops 6 and afterward.

Just a few days after Call of Duty NEXT, the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 beta will begin in early access, which runs from August 30 to September 4 for all platforms. The open beta will be held from September 6 to September 9 for all players. Players can gain access to the beta by pre-ordering Black Ops 6 or being an Xfinity Rewards member.
