Like any other sport, baseball is one with many stories of miracles involving teams that have no business making the playoffs pulling off the impossible. MLB The Show 24 brings every team in the league to the table with their official rosters, highlighting the strengths and weaknesses in five categories. What makes things truly special is when a team with a lower salary ceiling and few superstars takes down a behemoth.
The Unwritten Rules of MLB The Show Diamond Dynasty Explained
The MLB is filled with unwritten rules, and the same can be said for MLB The Show’s popular Diamond Dynasty game mode.
Every year, ratings are determined by the past season’s performance, breaking down each team’s contact, power, pitching, defense, and running abilities. Every stat is then compared to the rest of the league, giving MLB The Show 24 teams an official ranking that will help determine where to expect them to finish in the standings.

The St. Louis Cardinals kick off the discussion thanks to some solid batting numbers from their highest-rated player, Paul Goldschmidt. The Cardinals are a true testament to the belief that all a team needs to succeed is exceptional batting to make it. They rank outside the top ten in every other category and sit near the bottom in speed.
They sit in the middle of the pack for contact hitting in MLB The Show 24, which puts the Cardinals in a better position to succeed. A solid pitching rotation consisting of Sonny Gray, Ryan Helsley, and Kyle Gibson gives St. Louis the firepower they need to close out games.

Some say the best method to winning games is good defense, and the Arizona Diamondbacks boast the fifth-best defensive system in MLB The Show 24. Pitcher Zac Gallen and outfielder Corbin Carroll hold ratings in the 90s and sit in the top ten of the respective categories. If that isn’t enough to keep things tight, their sixth-best contact hitting will keep players cycling the bases and scoring runs consistently.
The Diamondbacks don’t possess much power to overwhelm opponents and run up the score, but they are decent around the board. Making the playoffs for the first time since 2017 definitely helps boost their confidence, and rookie Corbin Carroll becoming one of the league’s biggest breakouts will bode well for their success in 2024.

It shouldn’t surprise anyone at this point to see the Toronto Blue Jays ranked among the best MLB The Show teams. Thanks to cover athlete Vladimir Guerrerro Jr. and the likes of Bo Bichette and Justin Turner, Toronto remains one of the best teams for contact hitting. Most of the team is hitting their prime and excelling at each position, and becoming a threat in the World Series is becoming a real possibility.
Players will also have fun with their pitching rotation, which places sixth in the league and aids toward a top-five ranking on defense. Bichette at shortstop makes the infield a strong contender, and Kevin Gausman leads the bullpen as the highest-ranked player on the team.

The Texas Rangers may have ranked higher in the top ten had it not been for their bullpen. They hold top-five positioning in contact hitting and defense, posing a dual threat at both ends of the plate. If that wasn’t enough, their hitting lineup features consistency that will have players reaching the bases and loading up for a potential grand slam.
Sony San Diego Studio Games That Aren’t MLB The Show
While San Diego Studio’s MLB The Show may be the biggest name associated with it, the studio has a long history of Sony-published games.
Players will need to be mindful of the Rangers’ pitching in MLB The Show 24, as they lack the intensity and velocity compared to most teams in the top ten. It’s their Achilles heel, but can easily be overcome with some solid hitting, which helped them win their first World Series in 2023.

Led by Sonny Gray and Pablo Lopez, the Minnesota Twins have the bullpen to strike fear in any opponent. Pairing the American League’s best earned-run average (ERA) with excellent hitting is the reason why they entered the playoffs with a plus-73 run differential in the final month of the season. Having middle-of-the-pack defense and speed also contributes to an all-around good team to play with.
Players looking to do some damage on the scoreboard will have plenty of fun with the Twins. Designated hitter Byron Buxton possesses 99 power on both sides, and the overall batting rotation holds decent metrics despite not having a single player with a 90 overall rating.

There’s nothing quite like wearing the grey and pinstripe jerseys, as the New York Yankees are one of the most historic sports teams around. On paper, they have one of the best bullpens in the league, and Aaron Judge is an elite hitter. Players who enjoy cranking home runs will be gunning for the Yankees.
The Nintendo Switch 2 Has The Perfect 2025 Release Date
If the many rumors regarding the Nintendo Switch 2 releasing in 2025 are true, the console has one perfect release date it shouldn’t waste.
While the days of Derek Jeter in New York are long gone, playing infield with the Yankees will feel more intense and challenging. With pitching being in the top five in the league, it may be fun to see how many strikeouts can be picked up in a single game.

The Houston Astros have an interesting dynamic, as they possess one of the strongest batting rotations in the league and a capable bullpen. Outside of that, they struggled to keep the ball in play, and had an up-and-down season leading up to the playoffs. Thankfully, they are much more consistent in the players’ hands.
With a dynamic duo of outfielders in Yordan Alvarez and Kyle Tucker, players will enjoy stepping up to the plate and making their lives miserable. Even with the best fielding settings in MLB The Show 24, the Astros will be hitting line drives galore and parading to the base more often than not.

They have the batting ability, pitching, and boast the best speed in MLB The Show 24. The Philadelphia Phillies earned a World Series appearance just two years ago off the efforts of a strong pitching cast and being one of the fastest baserunning teams in the league. They hold top-ten numbers in four of the five categories this year.
The Phillies have four rotational pitchers who have an average of 80 or higher, and a designated hitter in Bryce Harper who can take care of business with a bat in his hand. Players looking for an easy time at both ends of the field may feel comfortable with Philadelphia’s strong lineup.

For those who excel at pitching, the Los Angeles Dodgers are second to none in this department. Shohei Ohtani can throw a mean ball, but he can also play the other side of the plate and hit home runs easily. Pair that fact with an excellent bullpen and the NL West leaders that finished with 100 wins in 2023, and the Dodgers are a team many will be choosing.
When playing as the Dodgers, players know what to expect in MLB The Show 24; an easy time at the plate and plenty of parading around the bases in celebration of another run scored. There’s only one team that can dethrone them in the rankings, but the Phillies are a worthy team capable of winning most games.

The cream of the crop, the Atlanta Braves are the best team in MLB The Show 24. They returned to greatness after topping the ranks in last year’s MLB The Show rankings, and for good reason. The 2021 World Series winner holds plenty of bragging rights with the best contact and power hitting in the game, and second in pitching.
Spread out across the field, the Braves have four players at 90 overall or above, covering the infield, outfield, and pitching positions. They can play any type of game, whether it’s pitching duels or offensive blowouts, and defensive mind games, and they have the lineup to do it. The Braves should be the first team to consider when booting up MLB The Show 24 with a friend.
