There’s something about foldable phones that perfectly sits between nostalgia and the height of technology. A lot of people grew up with flip phones, and while these aren’t quite the same as the ones we used to know and love, they certainly have a similar feeling. One of the best foldable phones right now is the Samsung Z Fold 5. Along with being able to effectively switch between using the Z Fold 5 as a mobile phone and a tablet, you can enhance your experience with a Bluetooth keyboard, making it an excellent and highly versatile device.
The Z Fold 5 is quite pricey, however, so we’ve scoured all the major retailers and carriers to find you some good deals that can make it more affordable to snag one. Some of these retailers even offer freebies or discounts on other Samsung accessories that can complement your snazzy new phone.
What colors does the Galaxy Z Fold 5 come in?
There are three main colors for the new Galaxy Z Fold 5: phantom black, cream and icy blue. There are also two exclusive colors — gray and blue — that are only available if you order through Samsung directly.
How much does the Galaxy Z Fold 5 cost?
The new Galaxy Z Fold 5 retains the same list prices as the previous-gen Z Fold 4, and starts at $1,800 before any discounts or offers are applied.
- Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 (256GB): $1,800
- Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 (512GB): $1,920
- Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 (1TB): $2,160

There are no straightforward discounts on the retail price right now, but there are other reasons to purchase directly from Samsung. There are exclusive colors available, and the trade-in offer for all configurations is up to $800 instant trade-in credit. The latest Apple and Samsung phones will net you the most credit. If you’re trading the Z Fold 4 in and it’s in good condition, you’ll likely save around $600, but even old and damaged phones will still net you a minimum discount of $300. Samsung also accepts select tablets and smartwatches for trade-in for a smaller discount. You can also get an extra $100 in savings with the following carriers: AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon.
Samsung offers a 30% discount to students, educators, first responders and US government employees.
Best Buy currently has no discount on this phone, but it has an excellent trade-in program that can save you up to $525, with the latest iPhones netting you the biggest discount. Color options for this model are icy blue or phantom black. You also get one free month of Xbox Game Pass as a bonus with purchase.
There’s no discount for Verizon customers, but they will get enhanced trade-in credit of up to $1,000. If you don’t mind an open-box phone, you might be able to snag one of these in some locations. This can get you substantial savings, but will vary by location and condition.
Of note: Right now, Best Buy currently carries the 256GB and 1TB models.
AT&T is offering up to $1,000 off the Z Fold 5 with an eligible trade-in, plus a free Samsung Watch 6. You’ll need to purchase the phone on a qualifying installment plan. You’ll get the full discount for any phone valued at just $95 or more, and even old and damaged devices valued at just $35 will still net you $800 in trade-in credit. The discount is applied as bill credits over 36 months and drops the price for the Z Fold 5 to just $22.23 per month.
AT&T is also offering additional perks for qualifying buyers. You might be able to score an AT&T Points Plus Card from Citi valued at $340 or a free pair of Samsung Galaxy Buds FE if you meet certain requirements.
Verizon customers adding a new line of service can save up to $1,000 with an eligible trade-in. Or, if you’re an existing customer who qualifies for an upgrade, you can still save up to $800 with just a trade-in.
Verizon is also offering a $170 promo credit for a Galaxy Watch 6 when purchased at the same time as the Z Fold 5. Plus, you can get up to $550 in promo credit if you add a Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE 5G to your bundle. Just note that you’ll need a new line of service for each of these devices.
T-Mobile is the only carrier out there at the moment offering a discount on the Galaxy Z Fold 5 that doesn’t require a trade-in. You can save up to $1,000 in bill credits when adding a new line of service on a Go5G Next or Go5G Plus plan or $600 when adding a new line on another qualifying service plan. If you do have an old phone to trade in, you can save up to $1,000 if you already have or switch to a Go5G Next or Plus plan, $500 with a Magenta rate plan, and up to $200 if you’re on another qualifying service plan.
T-Mobile is carrying the 256GB model only, in phantom black.
