Larian Studios has revealed an unexpected development coming to its immersive party-based RPG, Baldur’s Gate 3. Earlier this month, the game rolled out its second major update, addressing various bugs and significantly improving overall performance to enhance the experience for players. Now, Larian Studio is gearing up for another major release later this month.
According to an announcement on Larian Studio’s X page, Patch 3 for Baldur’s Gate 3 is scheduled for release on September 21st. Alongside this update, the game will finally offer full support on Mac, expanding its accessibility.
Since its departure from early access, Baldur’s Gate 3 has garnered critical acclaim, achieving staggering success upon its official release in August 2023 for PC via Steam. The game enjoyed an impressive player base count, with around 537,000 concurrent players on launch day, and peaked at over 712,000 concurrent players within the third day after release.
This remarkable commercial success that Baldur’s Gate 3 has earned exceeded the expectation of the developers and fans of the game since early access. It has also generated significant interest from RPG fans on other platforms who want to experience the adventures it has in store.
Fortunately, following its debut on PS5 last week, Baldur’s Gate 3 is now poised to expand its reach to other platforms, with Mac support being officially confirmed to launch later this month as part of Patch 3. In addition to these developments, Baldur’s Gate 3 will also be available on Xbox consoles later this year, as confirmed by Larian Studios’ CEO and founder, Swen Vincke, although a specific release date is yet to be announced.
