Today Larian Studios released the much-teased Patch 5 for Baldur’s Gate 3, and that’s certainly a very big one.

The update requires a 28.7 GB download on PC, and a little north of 130 GB available on your disk to do all the unpacking and processing. If you don’t have that much space, Larian advises to just uninstall and reinstall the game.

Once you have downloaded and installed the update, there’s much to enjoy starting with a brand new section of the ending designed to provide you and your party with the much-deserved closure.

We also get the addition of two new gameplay modes. The Honour mode is a challenging campaign with Ironman mode, which means you’re stuck on a single save file. Good luck with that. No save scumming allowed.

The Custom mode lets you customize the experience in a variety of ways, tweaking enemy aggression, character power, enemy loadouts, additional combat mechanics (lowering or increasing the complexity of encounters), proficiency bonuses, the possibility of enemy critical hits, a toggle for death saving throws, and one for free first strikes.

You can also set a multiplier for the cost of setting camp, toggle a full heal after a short rest, modify trade prices, disable or enable multiclassing, and much more.

Baldur's Gate 3 Inventory management at Camp

If your hardware of choice has been struggling, there are many performance improvements, especially in Act 3, and that is further helped on PS5 with the addition of dynamic resolution. If you have low VRAM or RAM on PC you should also see a performance uplift.

Korean localization has been added, alongside the ability to wear Orrin’s outfit, and to access and manage your companions’ inventory at camp regardless of whether they’re in the active party or not, which is awesome.

You can find the full patch notes on the official site.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is currently available for PC and PS5, while an Xbox Series X|S version will be released at some point in December. We don’t know the specific release date just yet, but Larian shared that we can look forward to hearing it at The Game Awards on December 7.

A physical Deluxe Edition is also coming for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S in Q1 2024.

You can read our review, which awarded Baldur’s Gate 3 with a 9.5 out of 10, and we’re not the only ones who loved the game, as it won the overall Game of the Year at the Golden Joystick Awards and is leading nominations at The Game Awards.
