Today Larian Studios released a new batch of statistics about its popular game Baldur’s Gate 3, and there are certainly some impressive numbers in the bunch.
The numbers were provided by the developer on X (formerly Twitter) and reveal that a whopping 1,3 million players have completed the game. This is the second batch of statistics revealed by Larian, but the first came just after the release and before the launch of the PS5 version.
This is absolutely massive, considering that completion percentages are usually rather low compared to the players that have actually purchased a game, and finishing Baldur’s Gate 3 in particular isn’t exactly a ten-hour affair.
Do keep in mind that some of the stats below may include mild spoilers.
While origin characters are neat, predictably players prefer to have their own protagonist, with 94% of them creating a custom character and charisma proving the most popular stat.,
We have also spent a cumulative 8,196 years in the character creator, while 1.24 million of us have been transformed into a sentient wheel of cheese.
Among those who wanted to try the adventure from an established point of view, Gale remains the most popular origin character, with Astarion ranking as a close second.
Paladins are the most popular class, followed by Sorcerers, while elves narrowly beat humans and half-elves among races.
The most popular subclass is Berserker for Barbarian, followed by the College of Lore for Bard.
2 million players have survived a dinosaur attack, while wizards and fellow spellcasters have thrown 84 million fireballs.
Everyone loves a good boy, and Scratch has been petted 48.5 million times. Players have also been very social with the dead, speaking to corpses 113 million times.
Shadowheart remains uncontested as the most-loved character, beating other love interests like Karlach and Lae’zel. It’s interesting to mention that the second-ranking love interest in the first batch of stats used to be Gale, but apparently he’s lost popularity compared to the girls.
14.4 million characters have met an untimely death through disintegration, while 1.2 million have been compelled to dance against their will.
66% of players who have reached the option preferred Halsin to stay in human form during intimacy as opposed to his much more memed bear form.
By act 2. 30.4% of players have flexed their illithid powers, while the total playtime for all players is a massive 452,556,984 hours. That’s 51,662 years.
Looking at the latest update, about 158,000 playthroughs have been started in the unforgiving Honour Mode, which eliminates savescumming by allowing only one save. 34,000 players have already found out about how challenging it is the hard way.
On the other hand, 464 players have already completed their playthrough in Honour Mode, which is impressive considering that the update has been out less than a week.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is now available for PC and PS5, with an Xbox Series X|S port coming this month. The release date will be announced at The Game Awards on December 7. A physical Deluxe Edition will be released for all platforms in Q1 2024.
