There are quite a lot of incredibly powerful benders in the world of Avatar. Fans have seen those with incredible power, as well as skill, and experience, establish themselves among the top dogs, and at the same time, there are also those who, despite being very young, are extremely talented and possess tremendous control over their respective elements.
Legend of Korra: What Happened To Sokka and Suki?
Sokka and Suki were given very little focus in the Avatar sequel, so what were they up to?
In Avatar, fans have seen quite a lot of extremely prodigious benders over the years and, only a few are considered to be the best of the crop.
5 Katara
Master Of Waterbending
Katara is certainly one of the most prodigious benders in the world of Avatar. She is quite young and, although not the youngest to master advanced skills, she still picks up things incredibly quickly. She masters Waterbending quite quickly, and, by the time that she visits the North Pole, she has already gained a terrific grasp over her Waterbending skills, surpassing even that of Aang.
Furthermore, it doesn’t take Katara long to learn advanced skills, such as Bloodbending either. She is a true prodigy by every word of the definition and, as she grows up, her skills only get even better.
4 Azula
Master Of Firebending
When it comes to Firebending, few can be considered to be true prodigies and even fewer can be considered to be anywhere close to Azula. In terms of fighting prowess and capabilities, Azula was far beyond the level of the likes of Zuko. Her skill in Firebending was immense, despite her being quite young. Azula’s blue flames were incredibly powerful and, if that wasn’t enough, her skill was such that she could even take down the adults.
Avatar The Last Airbender: Psychic Bending, Explained
Psychic bending in Avatar: The Last Airbender is definitely a bending art form that should be explored more but only as true psychic bending.
She could use fire as rocket boosters and, if all that wasn’t enough, she could also use Lightningbending. There is nothing that couldn’t do and, in combat, she could even take out the Avatar, when he was not in Avatar state. As long as her state of mind was normal, Azula would be unstoppable, despite being quite young and that qualifies her as a prodigy of fire bending.
3 Korra
The Young Avatar
After Aang died, the Avatar cycle continued and Korra became the next Avatar. It was quite a surprise for the fans to see that even by the age of 3, Korra could already bend nearly all elements. She was quite powerful despite being young, and it took her some time to grow into those elements. While Korra certainly is one of the biggest prodigies in the world of Avatar, fans must also remember the fact that it took her quite a long time to master the elements.
While she certainly learned them at a very young age, gaining mastery was a completely different thing altogether. Despite all that, even learning the elements at such a young age is a genius act and the fact that Korra managed it just goes to show that she truly was a prodigy herself.
2 Toph
Master Of Earthbending
Toph is one of the greatest prodigies in the world of Avatar, and this is true in her case more than the vast majority of the cast. Unlike the vast majority, Toph was not blessed with the gift of eyesight. In fact, she didn’t even have a proper teacher. She learned Earthbending from badger moles and she had to adapt to their life, and figure out her surroundings, just as they do.
Despite being blind, Toph became one of the best Earthbenders around. She could feel her surroundings better than those with eyes and she could look where others couldn’t, making her an incredibly powerful Earthbender. She could even invent Metalbending and she accomplished all this despite being a mere child. Without a doubt, Toph is one of the greatest prodigies in Avatar.
1 Aang
The Beloved Avatar
The Avatar after Roku, Aang was certainly one of the very best prodigies in the entire Avatar series, if not the biggest one. Aang was made aware of his Avatar status before his 16th birthday and, as a result, he had quite a lot of pressure piled on him despite being very young. Furthermore, Aang had to learn every single element within a few months and, despite all the challenges that he was posed with, he rose to the occasion and mastered all of them.
In fact, he didn’t just gain basic control over these elements but went on to completely master them. He learned Earthbending from Toph, Waterbending from Katara, and Firebending from Zuko. He even mastered spirit ending in a matter of days. By all means, Anag is certainly one of the biggest prodigies in Avatar.
