Auto Pirates is an auto battler set on the high seas, out now for iOS and Android
  • Auto Pirates is a new game from the creators of Botworld Adventure
  • It eschews pay-to-win in favour of tactical battles and strategic deckbuilding
  • Take to the high seas with a fleet of optional ships and four unique factions to mix and match

Piracy is fun! Well, in theory, it is. In truth, none of us really want some grubby guy with a cutlass threatening to keelhaul us. Still, it’s a fairly vibrant genre for exploring in video games, and the latest title to jump into the wide open ocean is Auto Pirates from Featherweight Games!

Called a competitive player vs world strategy game, in Auto Pirates, you have free rein to choose your crew and equip your ship before sailing into battle. You’ll earn loot based on your global rank, and the developers promise no pay-to-win or grind-to-win tactics. Fingers crossed that’s the reality!

Functioning as a deck-building auto battler, you’ll combine pirates from four different and distinct fantasy factions, and utilise magical relics and a vast armada of ships to build your perfect team.

Yarr

Featherweight Games is a developer with pedigree, having previously released the great Botworld Adventures. I’m interested to see how they tackle keeping Auto Pirates out of that pay-to-win maelstrom, as typically when I see auto-battler games they do tend to lean towards that.

But if it pulls it off, that means Auto Pirates is sure to be a new favourite for people looking to play an Auto Battler that focuses on strategy, and not whoever has the rarest character.
