Atsuko Tanaka, best known as the Japanese voice actress for Bayonetta, has passed away.
The sad news was shared by her son on social media, stating that she died from an undisclosed illness on August 20. She was 61 years of age.
Tanaka was well-known for her role as Bayonetta in the series as well as in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, but she has an extensive resume outside of the series. She also provided the voice of Lara Croft in the recent Tomb Raider I-III Remastered trilogy, Azusa Kasuga in Famicom Detective Club: The Missing Heir, Chun-Li in Street Fighter, and more. She was also a well-known voice in anime, lending her talent to many major roles.
