In the tabletop industry, Asmodee Publishing is one of the largest publishers in the world. They have opened studios dedicated to making accessible tabletop games and even tried to make the name Karen seem appealing. Now, they have signed a distribution deal with Gray Matters Games.
The Asmodee USA Gray Matters Games distribution deal
The distribution deal between Asmodee USA and Gray Matters Games was reported on by ICV2. According to the report, Asmodee USA will exclusively distribute the studio’s games across hobby shops, specific mass-market chains, and eCommerce retailers.
For those unaware, Gray Matters Games is a small tabletop studio based out of Michigan. Co-founded by Joe and Lauren Barron, they are a studio dedicated to making cognitively challenging experiences.
And they have a solid catalog of work. Gray Matters Games’ titles include The Game of Wolf, a trivia game where you can choose to join a group or go alone for double points, You Bet-Cha! which adds a poker twist to a quiz show, and Wrong Answers Only, a game about making the best wrong answer.
In addition, Gray Matters Games have been active members of the community. In 2021, they were a part of Games For Brains, a tabletop charity event to raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Association’s Longest Day. In addition, they have donated portions of their profits towards Alzheimer’s research.
When asked about this distribution deal with Asmodee USA, Joe Barron said,
“This new partnership will significantly expand our distribution into mass, hobby and international markets, bringing our award-winning party games to more tables around the world,”
Thanks to this deal Gray Matters Games board games will reach a much wider audience. Not only is Asmodee’s distribution far more robust, including popular outlets like Walmart and Target, but their support includes tabletop classics like CATAN and Ticket to Ride.
