Odegard is unlikely to be fit for the immediate clashes with Bournemouth (October 19) or Shakhtar Donetsk (October 22) and it would have been tight for him to return against Liverpool at the end of the month.
Arteta's men travel to Preston North End in the EFL Cup in October – Otigard will be rested anyway – and Arsenal's busy November season begins with a trip to Newcastle United on the second of the month.
It will be the first of three grueling games for the Gunners, who then travel to the San Siro to face Inter Milan on November 6, four days before traveling to Stamford Bridge for a meeting with Chelsea.
Following the last international break of the year, Arsenal face Nottingham Forest (November 23), Sporting Lisbon (November 26) and West Ham United (November 30), all of which Odegard could miss.
