Collectibles in video games have become increasingly more commonplace over the years. No matter the genre, there is always some sort of item that can be found. Most of the time, obtaining all of these collectibles just unlocks an achievement/trophy. Collectibles are also in Alone in the Dark, though they are referred to in-game as Lagniappes, and they can be found all over Derceto.
While obtaining all the Lagniappes will unlock an achievement/trophy, some of the sets can unlock things in-game as well. In fact, if you want to see the other endings in Alone in the Dark, you will have to complete certain Lagniappe sets. Any Lagniappes you will carry over into other playthroughs, so you only need to find them once.
