It’s been announced that upcoming survival horror remake/reboot Alone in the Dark is being delayed once more by publisher THQ Nordic and developer Pieces Interactive.
In a fresh joint statement, the two said on social media that “The well being of our teams is a top priority, and both companies want to avoid any potential crunch over the holidays – this is why we have decided to move the release date to March 20, 2024.” – a similar statement on the AITD official profile addressed fans directly, adding “We understand that many of you are eagerly awaiting the release of Alone in the Dark, but your patience will be rewarded on March 20, 2024.”
It’s not the first delay for the game either – far from it – as Alone in the Dark was previously scheduled to arrive in January when it was first delayed this past summer. At that time, it was claimed that the game would “thrive on the eerie embrace of solitude” and so moved out of the way of a packed release schedule that also included Alan Wake 2 and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, despite the game’s horror themes that would’ve made it perfect for a Halloween launch. While we’re all for ensuring a healthy work schedule for all involved – we can’t help but feel this new delay’s explanation throws the previous statement into question, as it seems maybe more accurate to say the game wasn’t ready yet?
Regardless, Alone in the Dark will star Stranger Things and Black Widow star David Harbour as main character Edward Carnaby while Emily Hartwood is set to be played by Free Guy and Killing Eve’s Jodie Comer. A playable Alone in the Dark Prologue for the game has been available since May.
Hopefully, the game is on track for its new March 20, 2024 release when Alone in the Dark is now set to arrive on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC.
