In this latest devlog i go through the game development process of adding dismemberment to my indie game Slaughter Cats in Unreal Engine 5. I’d been thinking about adding dismemberment to Slaughter Cats since i started the project but was always put off by idea of having to split apart all the meshes as i though it would take soooo long. I decided to just go ahead and do it and bite the bullet as i thought the feature would be really good with the game as it’s so bloody already. I walk through the game dev steps i made in unreal engine and my thought process as i develop the dismemberment system to it’s current state today.
Slaughter Cats is a brutal 1-4 Player 3D side scrolling beat’em up platformer combining the chaotic fun of beat’em ups and the skillful precision of classic platformers. Slaughter your enemies in single player, local or online co-op or PVP with up to 4 players in Arcade, Deathmatch or Horde. Coming to Steam on PC and hopefully Xbox and Playstation.
