The recent release of Elder Dragons into Monster Hunter Now has given the community one of the toughest challenges to date, with Kushala Daora testing everyone’s mettle. Well, the show is just getting started, as a second Elder descends from the sky to burn bloody bloody vengeance. Welcome, Teostra.
If you have ever encountered a Teostra in any other Monster Hunter game you know two things. One, it looks like a pretty cool lion-dragon, and two, it will burn you alive in no seconds flat. And that can only mean one thing; water! Cats and fire hate water, it makes perfect sense.
From August 5th to August 11th, Niantic is giving everyone a little bit of a head start on this next fearsome Elder Dragon, with a set of quests designed to help upgrade your water-elemental weapons. You will also be able to tackle Mizutsune and Coral Pukei-Pukei for this time.
Completing these quests will net you a bevvy of rewards, such as gatherable materials and monster materials. If you make it to the end you will also get a Wyvern Gem Shard and a Mizutsune Plate. You will also rack up the Season Tier Points and get some Zenny for your trouble.
Mizutsune and Coral Pukei-Pukei show up in forest and swamp habitats, and you will also be running into Jyuratodus if you wade through the swamp. Defeating these three and Great Jagras will reward you with 50% more materials, with two of each material in the first and second slots of basic rewards.
To start these monsters showing up you will need to first complete the prologue, although if you haven’t already done this, the Elder Dragon will most likely eat you right away. The event quests will also automatically get added to your Special Quest tab when this is complete, so you can start grinding those water weapons easily.
Monster Hunter Now is available to download from the App Store and Google Play.
