Did you think your rented apartment in the city was tiny? One man took on the task of building the world's smallest tiny house, measuring just 19.46 square feet.

Levi Kelly (27) decided to build this tiny mansion in order to win the Guinness World Record.

Still, he didn't skimp on the essentials, as it was equipped with everything an ordinary house should have, including a bed, kitchen, hot water, toilet, shower, and even air conditioning.

The definition of a tiny house, according to the International Residential Code, requires that the space be no larger than an ergonomic 400 square feet – which Levi has certainly mastered.

But there's a science behind the design, as Levi incorporated flexible elements to make the space more breathable, including a foldable bed and a movable toilet.

He also keeps the shower outside to save space, and notes that anyone sleeping in the bed must be less than 5 feet 7 inches tall (sorry, tall).

So far, Levi has kept costs relatively low and spent about £3,846.40 ($5,000) on the design, which he developed based on an old trailer he was using.

“(I) fixed it and started with the framing, just like a normal house,” Levi, from West Virginia, tells What's The Jam.

The exterior is lined with cedar and is insulated. I then used 2 x 3 inch dowels to save some space and weight.

Upon entering the house, many of his friends and family are delighted as they note that “people seem impressed that everything can fit into such a small space.”

Is he built for full-time life? Probably. Would anyone like to? Probably not, he adds.

Levi hopes that in the future he will be able to use the house as a shelter for his wife, Savannah, and their two children, ages three and nine months respectively.

However, to prepare him for a camping trip, he would change a few things – including: foldable bed and ventilation system.

“The space to get into the bed is quite narrow,” Levi muses.

“I forgot to add ventilation, so the hot air stayed at the top. I would also fold out the bench to create a larger platform that could be used as a second bed.

“I would also change the battery situation by adding a larger battery and better solar panels to provide more off-grid utility.”

Since debuting his tiny house online last week, Levi has raised $36,000. views of your home YouTube video – and viewers are delighted.

“It has everything, it's so nice and well built,” @kellygreene2081 noted in the comments, while @itsjustmel1217 challenged Levi to “take a step towards the 'toilet' and privacy tent.”

“I love your all-inclusive setup with heater/air conditioning, hot water and toilet. It's great to see what's possible in such a small space,” added @emmaschneider3638, while @autanyalucas8708 said his design was one of their “favorite little houses.”
