“My biggest worry is that if we tell him she's sick, he'll think she's going to die the next time she catches a cold,” Fishel explained.

“Or the next time Mom or Dad gets sick, they'll think we're going to die,” he continued.

“So I wanted to be honest with him about the fact that she had cancer and cancer doesn't always mean you're going to die, but sometimes it does. And the same thing happened with Patty.

When the actress was diagnosed, her fear was that if she told her children, who are usually 'very honest', they would think she was going to die.

“I can't stand the possibility of them worrying about me,” he admitted.

Instead, Fishel told her children that she had a 'boo boo' and needed surgery, so they should be nice to her.

“I told them I love our bear hugs and I love wrestling with you, but my poop means I have to be gentle,” he explained.

When she recovered, she ecstatically told her oldest son, Adler, that his “poop was fine.”

Fischl, who is now cancer-free, explained that his oldest son, Adler, was three years old when his grandmother died and that he was “very close to her.”

“My friends, my family, the breast cancer community, I have never felt as much love and support as I have in these three months,” she said.

Fishel revealed his diagnosis of DCIS, which stands for ductal carcinoma in situ, on an August episode of his podcast, Pod Meets World.

She shared that she caught it so early that it was detected on her annual mammogram.

He explained that the cancer measured only two millimeters at the time of its diagnosis, too small to detect manually.

Last week, Fishel took to Instagram to emphasize the importance of preventive care to her 1.2 million followers.

In a caption, she wrote: 'Proud to join @aflac to spread awareness about the life-saving effects of preventive care.

'The early diagnosis of my breast cancer allowed me to take action. That's why, no matter how busy you are, it's important to make time for annual checkups and screenings, because #yourhealthmatters.'
