Over the last couple of years, Sony has taken considerable steps to expand PlayStation’s presence in media beyond video games, with projects like TV shows based on The Last of Us and Twisted Metal, and films based on the likes of Uncharted and Gran Turismo. And it seems like Bloodborne could soon join that list.

The acclaimed FromSoftware-developed action RPG released for the PS4 in 2015, and though widespread demand for a remaster (or even a port) have fallen on deaf ears at Sony, it seems like the company does still intend to use the property and adapt it for the big screen.

That’s as per known film insider Daniel Richtman, who made the claim in a recent post on his Patreon page. Richtman has also claimed that the film is being written by Darren Lemke (known for Lost, Shazam!, and The Wheel of Time) and produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura (Transformers, G.I. Joe).

Given the esoteric nature of Bloodborne’s storytelling style and how specifically geared it is to being a video game, one has to wonder how a movie adaptation of the game would work, though there’s no doubting that the setting of Yharnam is a fascinating one with plenty of potential for fascinating stories to be told.

Meanwhile, Sony has plenty of other PlayStation properties lined up for movie or TV adaptations in the future, including the likes of Ghost of Tsushima, Days Gone, Gravity Rush, God of War, and Horizon.
