The first batch of Microsoft’s first-party Xbox titles released for rival platforms earlier this year, with the Grounded and Pentiment coming to PlayStation and Switch, and Hi-Fi Rush and Sea of Thieves to just the former. It was a successful experiment for the company, and CEO Satya Nadella made it clear not long afterward that more first-party titles would be following suit. Now, it seems like another one of those is going to be announced soon.
Industry insider shinobi602 recently took to the ResetEra forums and claimed that another major first-party Xbox title is going to be announced next week across multiple messages (1, 2, 3), but didn’t go into further detail on what that game will be. Shortly afterward, prominent Xbox leaker eXtas1s took to Twitter and responded to the rumour with a gif sayin “feliz Cinco de Mayo”, potentially hinting that the game in question set to be announced for PlayStation is Forza Horizon 5, which, of course, is set in Mexico.
Gamescom is set for next week, with Microsoft touting a major presence at the event, with Gamescom Opening Night Live set to kick things off on August 20. If the announcement is indeed happening next week, it’s likely that that’s where we’ll be hearing about it.
Reports have claimed that Microsoft intends to bring most of its major titles to rival platforms, with the likes of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Starfield, Gears of War, Halo, and many others allegedly being considered for multiplatform releases.
