Max Payne 1 and 2 Remake Has Entered Full Production

It’s looking increasingly likely that Remedy Entertainment’s next big single-player release is going to be its combined remake of the first two Max Payne titles. Last October, the Finnish studio announced that the project had entered the production readiness stage, and that it would enter the next stage of development in 2024– which, Remedy says, has now happened.

In its most recent quarterly fiscal report, Remedy Entertainment has revealed that Max Payne 1 and 2 Remake has now entered full production, with the development team working on the third-person shooter “working towards developing the game to an early functional state from beginning to end”. How long this stage of development will take remains to be seen, but one would assume that the next big milestone for the project will be launch, however far away that is.

Remedy Entertainment’s creative director Sam Lake previously described Max Payne 1 and 2 Remake as “a significant undertaking”, with the goal being to bring both titles “up to modern standards and combining them into one”. The project is set to be fully funded and published by Rockstar Games, the owner of the IP, with the budget being similar in scope to Alan Wake 2.
