Civilization 7 Fans Are Hoping to See the Return of a Missing Feature

Some fans are asking the Civilization 7 developers to bring back leaders’ clothing styles that reflect the civilization’s level of advancement. While Civilization 7 is still in its development stages, many fans continue to reflect on past entries in the franchise. A lot of features have been removed over the years in favor of new mechanics. However, many players still wish for the return of some gameplay concepts, even from games dating as far back as the second or third Civilization.

One recent debate was whether Districts should return in Civilization 7. Some players enjoyed the district system, but others felt that it needed improvement by lessening the micromanagement needed. This is just one concept of the game that some people believe to need some adjustment. However, it’s not always the big gameplay details that have fans in heavy discussions. A few players had hoped that one tiny visual detail could make a return to the series.

Reddit user joyousdoodles posted a request to bring back advancement-specific clothing for leaders in Civilization 7. This feature last appeared in Civilization 3, which is a good 20+ years and 3 mainline games removed from the current title. The idea that a leader changes visually just adds immersion to the game, especially in the latter eras. However, some fans believe that the idea could use a little tweaking if it does return. Many people thought that the modern suit and tie attire felt very western and robbed characters of their personality. One user even pointed out that Cleopatra in a political pantsuit would be a “bit of a downgrade.”

What Are Possible Issues Should The Developers Bring Back This Feature?

According to another commenter, each leader and denomination in Civilization represented different cultures with unique customs and looks. The key concern is that appropriation may be a problem, especially since some choices might be deemed offensive to certain beliefs, countries, and religions. Not to mention, other users who chimed in thought that the out-of-era characters looked bad. Plus, the leaders’ iconic outfits did help establish their uniqueness and character.

Still, with Civilization 7‘s targeted 2025 release, there’s a lot more that the developers can look into regarding features in the game. With some fans believing that Civilization 4 and Civilization 5 were some of the best entries, the developers may want to check out which features were removed from those games and reintroduce them soon.
