Final Fantasy 14 Mobile Port Has Been Approved for Release in China

Last month, rumours emerged that Square Enix and Tencent were working together on a mobile version of the former’s massively successful MMORPG Final Fantasy 14, and more evidence seems to have emerged to set that further in stone, even in the continued absence of an official announcement.

Caught by Niko Partners analyst Daniel Ahmad on Twitter, the National Press and Publication Administration of China has approved a new batch of import titles for release in the country, and included in that group of games is a mobile version of Final Fantasy 14, titled Final Fantasy 14: Crystal World

As per Ahmad, Final Fantasy 14: Crystal World is being developed by Tencent’s Lightspeed Studios, and is going to be a standalone MMORPG, which means it will be separate from the mainline Final Fantasy 14 experience.

As mentioned, Square Enix has yet to officially announced a mobile version of the title, but one would imagine with these developments that it won’t be long before that changes. Stay tuned for further updates.
