The latest Atlus Showcase for Metaphor: ReFantazio is now available, with director Katsura Hashino introducing the various election candidates in the Tournament for the Throne. Check it out below.
Following the king of Euchronia’s death, players embark on this election for a chance to become king (though their motives extend beyond this). They must first go to Port Brielhaven and participate in the “Exhibition of the Brave,” a combat challenge where the victory must bring “the biggest monster head.” Throughout the Tournament, Batlin will provide commentary on its current goings-on.
The election candidates include Forden, Sanctism’s supreme authority and head of the Crown Theocracy, and Louis, an officer in the army with exceptional power. You also have Gideaux, Forden’s bodyguard and opposed to the protagonist; Godell, Louis’ subordinate who is also not a fan of your chicanery; Milo, a beauty-obsessed member of the Ishkia; Rudolf, a ruthless Roussainte tribe member; and many more.
Throughout the cities, you’ll see posters for their pledges and can even speak to NPCs to learn their thoughts about each. Each has Gauntlet Runners, just like the protagonist, though they may become your supporters depending on your decisions. While your ranking in the election is displayed throughout, it’s merely a “flavor element” and only changes upon progressing the campaign and completing missions.
Metaphor: ReFantazio launches on October 11th for PS4, Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC
