Monster Hunter Now has been going along at a fair old pace for the past year, and you may be wondering if you still have time to jump aboard. Well with the newest update bringing a massive quality-of-life mechanic, and a gigantic collab, the answer is an emphatic yes.
Let’s start on the big-name collab, the first of its kind if you discount in-house Capcom properties. Niantic has gone and got one of the internet’s biggest names, with Mr Beast himself coming to the game. He brings a fully fleshed-out storyline, with a reward perfect for new and old players.
If you follow this questline you will unlock an incredibly powerful, themed Sword and Shield based on Mr Beast’s colour and logos. Keep chugging along through the mission and you will upgrade it to Grade 6 for free. This weapon is one of the strongest non-elementals in the whole game, which is superb for being so easy to get.
Two of the biggest things Niantic want to push in their games are obviously being social and exercising, but if you have ever lived anywhere rural you know the first one, is not easy. Well, after quite a few games, a team at Niantic are taking action against this, with the Monster Hunter Now devs introducing Dimensional Link monsters.
It is fairly simple, a percentage of the monsters that spawn, the team where frustrating vague about the precise number, will be Dimensional Link foes with a special symbol. Select them as normal, and instead of the local gameplay, you will go to an international lobby. That’s because these Monsters exist in multiple places around the world at once.
Anyone facing them can be matched with new friends all around the world, with the same party bonus as local parties. These have no special cooldowns or requirements, they will have a chance to proc whenever a wild monster spawns. The only restrictions are you can’t paintball them, and you can enter with a party. Besides that, it’s a valuable addition that hopefully Niantic’s other titles take note of. Looking at you Pokemon Go.
