“Operation: The Floor is Lava” Helldivers 2 players really want the Anti-Tank Mines after devs have tried to give them away for 3 months

The Anti-Tank Mines were first revealed back in April 2024 and the Helldivers 2 community still doesn’t have access to them, but not because Arrowhead Game Studios didn’t want to give them to us. For months, players have chosen numerous other Stratagems and rewards for completing Major Orders and now players finally want them to come to the game.

U/Ok-Lab5479 took to Reddit to state that, despite being an unpopular opinion, they want the Anti-Tank Mines to finally come to Helldivers 2 because they “want to do a mine-heavy build just for kicks.”

The Anti-Tank Mines were first offered to players back in April when the community was given the choice between the Anti-Tank Mines and the Airburst Rocket Launcher. The community chose the Airburst Rocket Launcher and since then I don’t think I’ve seen a single player ever use it.

In May, the Anti-Tank Mines were offered again if the community could collectively eradicate 2 billion Automatons. Instead, most of the player base chose to fight Terminids instead and the Major Order was a failure.

Then in June, players were given the option between the Anti-Tank Mines or saving a children’s hospital, which was only mentioned in a line of text and had no real impact on the game. But, the community chose to save the hospital. Thankfully, that did end up being the best option as Arrowhead Game Studios donated money to charity.

Now we are in July and it will be interesting to see whether Arrowhead gives us another opportunity to unlock them. If they do, I expect the community to choose not to unlock them again, but one day I’m sure we will finally have access to them.

Other players took to the comments to state that they want the Anti-Tank Mines to be unlocked, including u/SpecialistEvidence97 who wants to build an “all mines strat loadout. Or as I like to call it, Operation: The Floor is Lava.”

U/stankiest_bean is curious to see how they will be implemented in Helldivers 2 saying “One issue people seem to wonder about is how they’ll work against Titans and Striders if they’ll function like the other Mines, since it’ll just blow up on their legs and do nothing. Maybe if the mines launch themselves up when they detect sufficient xenomass, so that they’ll actually hit the body? Might be extremely effective vs. factory striders given their belly weakpoint.”

I’m sure that one day we will finally get access to them. But until that day comes, there is still a Galactic War to win, and right now players have been tasked with “splitting Automaton forces in two” as they cut the supply lines off leading to the Andromeda Sector. Spending a lot of time facing the robot army has led many to realize how difficult the Gunships are, leading to players finding new strategies to defeat them, including using the underrated Laser Cannon.
