Dimensionals Is a Roguelike RPG With a Saturday Morning Cartoon Vibe – Gamezebo

The King of the Specters has unleashed an apocalyptic attack, scattering the peace-loving Dimensionals and placing every dimension at the precipice of doom.

A courageous young multiverse-enabled Dimensional emerges as humanity’s last hope, hopping between dimensions, rescuing stricken allies, and building an army capable of putting the Specter King back in his figurative box.

If that sounds like the setup for a ‘90s Saturday morning cartoon to you, developer Mino Games has done its job.

Built on a rock-solid foundation of RPG, turn-based strategy, roguelike, and old school animated adventures, Dimensionals is shaping up to be one of the most imaginative and crowd-pleasing indie games of 2024.

And you’ll be able to play it for yourself during the upcoming Steam playtest on July 10th.

Here’s what you can expect.

Dimensionals is an immaculately presented, highly approachable RPG that sees you amassing an army of dozens of different hero characters and hundreds of equippable skill cards.

The scope for combos is mind-boggling, letting you tailor each team to the challenge it’s about to face.

Putting teams together is a question of problem-solving, almost like a puzzle game. You’ll have to think on your feet, though, since Dimensional’s roguelike gameplay ensures that the skills you’ll receive will be different every time.

Meanwhile, the game’s hand-crafted story campaign unfolds in episodes, with levels stitched together by dynamic comic book cutscenes. Dimensionals has both the bracing randomness of a roguelike and the comforting structure of a well-told story.

Then there’s the Master Raid mode, which is a pure, uncompromising roguelike mode with classic RPG party management, horrifically challenging bosses, procedurally generated maps.

But enough of the nuts and bolts. The real reason to be excited for Dimensionals is the pixel-perfect cartoon presentation, complemented perfectly by a soundtrack composed by Brad Breeck, whose previous credits include the iconic music from Gravity Falls.

To stay in the loop, wishlist Dimensionals on Steam, and follow the game on X, TikTok, and the official website
