For superhero fans, Robert Kirkman’s Invincible is a breath of fresh air. What started as a 2003 comic series has spawned into a multimedia series, covering an animated series and videogame DLC. Now there is Invincible: The Hero-Building Game, a board game adaptation now available for pre-order.

According to an official press release, Invincible: The Hero-Building Game is a story-driven cooperative experience. Players take on the roles of Invincible, Atom Eve, Rex Splode, and Robot as they fight villains and unlock unique powers.
The narrative around these battles is similar to the source material. The Guardians of the Globe, one of the most iconic hero teams in the world, are all dead. So the new generation of heroes will have to master their powers fast. Or else, people will die.
The narrative of Invincible: The Hero-Building Game is told across seven re-playable episodes. These episodes contain unique gameplay challenges and twists alongside superhero antics. At its core, the game is a bag-building game with a free-form battle system. One that makes it so no one has to wait for their turn.
Invincible: The Hero-Building Game is designed by Dire Wolf, the same studio behind Dune: Imperium. Its publisher is Skybound Tabletop, the same company behind Trial by Trolley and Sheep in Disguise.

Invincible was created by Robert Kirkman (The Walking Dead) and Cory Walker. Thanks to strong character writing and subversive elements, it stood out among its peers. It has spawned an animated series which just wrapped up its second season. In addition, characters from the series have shown up in Fortnite and the most recent Mortal Kombat.
Invincible: The Hero-Building Game can be pre-ordered right now. It is being sold at an MSRP of $55.00, not including shipping. The game will be available in local game stores July 11.
