One of the best features of Helldivers 2 is that it caters to every player and allows you to play how you want to and shape your experience to suit you. From crafting the perfect loadout, and even choosing what enemy types you want to fight, as long as you’re bringing democracy, Super Earth doesn’t mind how you do it.
U/CouldBeBetterTBH took to Reddit to discuss Stratagem stacking and why it should be added back into the game. This was a possibility in the original Helldivers game, where players could choose the same Stratagem multiple times for their loadout. However, with Helldivers 2 this isn’t possible without exploiting glitches.
“Can we bring back Stratagem stacking like in HD1? We technically already do it whenever we get bonus Stratagem Modifiers and I’d really like to be able to double up on certain options when tackling Defense missions. There’d be genuine drawbacks to 4-stacking as well so it would be balanced as is…”
Currently, players are unable to carry more than one of the same Stratagem in a mission. Some are similar to each other if players like a specific style of bomb or weapon, but they aren’t the same. Glitches do exist that allow for players to carry multiple of the same, but it is difficult to pull off and will likely be patched eventually. We have gotten close to Stratagem stacking during the current Major Order as the 500KG Bomb is now available to all players, but you can also choose it from your own collection, meaning you can carry two in a mission.
Although the current system encourages variety, there are many different playstyles and no two players will be exactly the same. This means that some could benefit from Stratagem stacking if it suits them best, or could be optimal for the team.
For now, players will need to select four different Stratagems at the start of the mission, but which ones are the best options for you?
