The time has come to demolish 24 Sussex Drive. To expect taxpayers to fund a renovation to the tune of now $40 million would be insanity, to say the least. (Former prime ministers Stephen Harper and Jean Chrétien have volunteered to lead a private fundraising effort to rescue No. 24.) A well-appointed home could be built for a fraction of that cost.

Letter writer Stephen Flanagan made a very good point: Get rid of the governor general role, which is costly and useless, and move the prime minister into Rideau Hall. Problem solved.

So many serious issues in this country could be solved fairly quickly with one solution: get rid of Justin Trudeau. Most, if not all, of Canada’s problems have been brought on by a prime minister who doesn’t bother himself with balanced budgets, doesn’t read (I refer to his security briefings) and is busy increasing his carbon footprint while telling us to reduce ours.

I’m not saying all of our problems would be solved overnight, but Canada could regain its international reputation by dumping the one person responsible for embarrassing this country on a global scale.

Justin Trudeau is touting solving all the problems he and his government created by announcing billions more in spending. He announces everything as if it is coming out of his own pocket. All he is doing is fattening our enormous national debt for now and generations to come. Thanks to his failed policies, the standard of living in Canada has rapidly declined. I hope people don’t fall for his desperate, grandiose plans. He has zero credibility.

The stink is coming from Parliament Hill and the Liberal party. Hopefully, when they are gone, the smell goes away.

LONG-GONE COMMON SENSE

Do Canadians need to be concerned about the number of incompetent individuals who run for office? It sure would be nice if we ended up with a few who actually had some solutions to what’s happening to our country and were willing to act before it is too late. The worry is that common sense is a relic of our once-great past.
