It is almost time again for Star Wars Day, and that means another Fortnite collaboration is about to hit the game. Fortnite has had a long-standing relationship with Disney, going back to 2019 when Fortnite held a Star Wars event in Chapter 2 Season 1 which brought Rey, Finn, Kylo Ren, Sith Trooper, and Zorii Bliss to the game. Since then, a Star Wars event has come to the game every May, adding weapons such as the iconic Lightsaber to the loot pool, as well as many more skins from the franchise.

Epic Games has announced that the next Fortnite x Star Wars event will come to the game on Friday, May 3. This event will bring new content into the main Battle Royale mode, LEGO Fortnite, and even Fortnite Festival. With LEGO Star Wars being a popular video game franchise in its own right, it will be great to see elements of that come to LEGO Fortnite. And, I am excited to play music from the iconic John Williams soundtracks in the Fortnite Festival mode. But for now, let’s take a look at some Star Wars characters that we hope will be coming to Fortnite on May 3rd.

Chewbacca

Chewbacca is one of the most iconic characters in the Star Wars universe, making his first appearance alongside Han Solo in the first movie and being a mainstay ever since. If Chewbacca comes to the game he wouldn’t be the first Wookie to make an appearance, as Krrsantan from The Book of Boba Fett was added to the game in 2022. But, when it comes to a Wookie character, there isn’t a more well-known one than Chewbacca, and considering many of the original trilogy characters have made an appearance already, including Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Princess Leia, and Han Solo, it is surprising that Chewie hasn’t made his way to Fortnite yet.

Darth Revan

Darth Revan was a Jedi Knight who turned to the Dark Side and became a Sith Lord during The Old Republic era, becoming a key figure of the Knights of the Old Republic series. Eventually, Revan would go on to kill another Sith Lord, Darth Malik, ending the war and going back to the Light Side of the Force. Apart from his appearance in Knights of the Old Republic, Darth Revan hasn’t had much attention on him in other Star Wars media. But, he was established in the new Star Wars canon when he was mentioned in Star Wars Episode 9: The Rise of Skywalker. Despite only making one on-screen appearance in a video game from over 20 years ago, Darth Revans a popular character in the Star Wars fandom, and his inclusion in the game would be great to see.

Emporer Palpatine

Palpatine is the most evil figure in Star Wars and the Emporer of the Galactic Empire. Many other iconic Star Wars villains have made appearances in Fortnite, including Palpatine’s two former apprentices, Darth Maul, and Darth Vader, but the Sith Lord has yet to show up in the game. It would be incredibly fun to run around the Fortnite island shooting Force Lightning at our opponents, which takes us to the final entry on this list because this Jedi knows all too well what Force Lightning feels like.

Mace Windu

Mace Windu is a Jedi Master who was prominently featured in the prequel trilogy. Portrayed by Samuel L. Jackson, Mace Windu is known for his purple Lightsaber, the only character in the films to use this color. Mace Windu died at the hands of Palpatine in Star Wars Episode 3 after Anakin Skywalker betrayed him and sided with the Emporer, leading to the Jedi Master being thrown from a window while being hit with Force Lightning. It has been debated ever since whether the Jedi Master was truly dead, but so far he has made no appearances in the Star Wars universe in any events following his encounter with the Sith Lord.

With Disney recently investing $1.5 billion into Epic Games to become a minority shareholder, we will continue to see extensive collaborations with its IPs coming to Fortnite. Many have speculated that other Disney franchises outside of Marvel and Star Wars could make future appearances in Fortnite, but it has been confirmed that the two are working on all-new games and an entertainment universe. Fortnite is currently in the middle of Chapter 5 Season 2, which is due to end on May 24. This week saw the addition of Avatar, including a new mini-Battle Pass to unlock the Avatar State Aang skin. This is the second mini-Battle Pass that is currently in the game as Fortnite Festival Season 2’s Festival Pass adds an exclusive Lady Gaga skin as well as tracks including Nelly’s Ride Wit Me, with Festival Season 3 due to begin on April 22, but no news regarding its featured artist has been revealed yet.
