All Deathbird Locations in Elden Ring

The world of Elden Ring features many bizarre and spooky creatures. One such being is the Deathbird. These beasts have a very frightening design: a giant dead crow-like body with a skull for a head combined with massive glowing wings. Coming across this beast in the wild will terrify even the bravest players.

Elden Ring Enemies That Should Not Return in Shadow of the Erdtree

FromSoftware announced an Elden Ring DLC called Shadow of the Erdtree is in development, and there are some enemies that should not return within it.

Fighting against them is also an experience no Elden Ring player should miss. Thankfully, there are a total of eight of them, each rewarding the player with a unique prize. The guide below details everything you need to know, including the location of the Deathbirds, the rewards, and their description.

All Deathbird Locations in Elden Ring

Limgrave

To fight your first Deathbird, you will first need to find it. Thankfully, these beasts aren’t exactly well-hidden. Your first Deathbird awaits you in the starting region of the game, better known as Limgrave. Fast travel to the Warmaster’s Shack and wait until it’s dark; otherwise, the Deathbird you are looking for will never spawn.

Once the sun is out, head east until you see a giant broken wall on the ground covered with white lights. Get closer to it, and the creepy beast will spawn and attack you. Defeating it will reward you with the Blue Feathered Branchsword.

  • The Blue Feathered Branchsword will reduce the damage received by the wearer by 50% when their health is below 20%.

Weeping Peninsula

The second Deathbird resides in the Weeping Peninsula region. Fast travel to Castle Morne Rampart / Nomadic Merchant Site of Grace and once again wait until night, as the bird won’t appear otherwise.

You will need to head southwest, passing the giant broken wall (there should be a massive pillar on your right). Keep heading straight, and you should notice a map fragment pedestal in your path, indicating that you are going the correct way. Once you see it, just keep running adjacent to the rocks and trees on your right, and the path will take you directly to the Deathbird’s spawn location. Defeat the second Deathbird, and you will be rewarded with the Sacrificial Axe.

  • The Sacrificial Axe grants the wearer 4 FP for every enemy they kill within their surroundings.

Liurnia of the Lakes (Southern Area)

The Liurna of the Lakes region is home to not one but two Deathbirds. However, this entry only details the one that resides on the southern side of the lake. Read the next entry to know more about the one that resides in the central region of the lake.

Your first task should be to fast-travel to the Scenic Isle Site of Grace and wait until nighttime. Once the sun has gone, head north until you notice a broken structure covered with several white lights. The journey should only take a few seconds; if you haven’t found it within a minute, then it means you are going the wrong way. Get closer to the structure, and your third Deathbird will attack you. Defeating it will reward you with the Red-Feathered Branchsword Talisman.

  • The Red-Feathered Branchsword Talisman increases the wearer’s attack power by 20% when their HP is below 20%. Pairing it with the Blue-Feathered Branchsword would be a smart choice.

Liurnia of the Lakes (Central Area)

The second Deathbird residing in the Liurna of the Lakes region isn’t too hard to find. Fast-travel to the Gate Town North Site of Grace and wait until nightfall. The desired Site of Grace is located to the east of the island, which is home to the Academy of Raya Lucaria. Use the above image if you are confused about its whereabouts.

Head south from the Site of Grace. You will need to go around the broken building in front of you, and once you are on the rear side, the fourth Deathbird will spawn in the air and attack you. Defeating this beast will reward you with the Ancient Death Rancor.

  • The Ancient Death Rancor allows the wearer to attack their enemies with 9 Ghostflame spirit skulls; it can be charged for additional damage.

The boss’s health bar will display the name “Death Rite Bird” here instead of “Deathbird.” Don’t be confused; they are one and the same. Death Rite Birds are simply tougher to kill and boast a wider range of attacks, including magic-based ones.

Caelid

The fifth Deathbird is not too difficult to find, but it is challenging to reach. Fast travel to the Caelid Highway South Site of Grace, situated on the southwest side of the Caelid region, which itself is located east of Limgrave.

Elden Ring features a total of 12 dragons and ancient dragons for players to contend with as they adventure throughout the Lands Between.

Wait until nightfall and head to the southeast. You will witness a massive white dragon titled Decaying Ekzykes to your right. Don’t fight it; just run past it using Torrent. You will notice a giant skull on the horizon. That’s your destination. Once you reach there, the fifth Deathbird will be waiting for you. Defeat the Deathbird, and you will receive Death’s Poker as a reward.

  • Death’s Poker is a Greatsword that scales with intelligence, strength, and dexterity. It also causes frostbite and inflicts piercing damage.

Altus Plateau

Your sixth Deathbird awaits you in the Altus Plateau region. Fast travel to the Hermit Merchant’s Shack Site of Grace, located on the northwestern side of the Capital Outskirts sub-region, which itself lies on the eastern side of the Altus Plateau.

Wait until nighttime at the previously mentioned Site of Grace and head northeast up the hill, hugging the castle wall on your left. Keep going onward, and you will see a giant tree (Minor Erdtree) in front of you with golden leaves on it. That’s the spot where the sixth Deathbird resides. Reach there, and the boss will spawn and attack you. After defeating the Deathbird, you will receive the Twinbird Kite Shield.

  • The Twinbird Kite Shield grants the Tarnished 5% Attack and a 10% Defense Bonus if your Health is below 20%.

Mountaintops Of The Giants (Central Area)

The final two Deathbirds reside in the Mountaintops Of The Giants region, which can only be unlocked by defeating the Omen King, Morgott. Once you have unlocked the area, travel to the Freezing Lake Site of Grace and wait until nightfall.

Elden Ring: How to Defeat Morgott the Omen King

Players of Elden Ring who reach Leyndell, the Royal Capital, will eventually be forced to face off with Morgott the Omen King.

Hop onto your trusty steed and head upwards (in the northeast direction), then to the left (southwest direction). The giant golden tree (The Erdtree) should be in front of you. Keep heading straight and then downwards, but beware, as you will be attacked by several huge skeletons that spawn from the ground. When you are at the end, head down the slope to your right and then left again. The second-last Deathbird will spawn near the floating white trees. Defeating the seventh Deathbird will reward you with the Death Ritual Spear.

  • The Death Ritual Spear is a melee weapon that comes with the Spearcall Ritual Unique Skill. The skill summons magic spears that attack enemies on the ground.

Mountaintops Of The Giants (Western Area)

Make sure you are armed to the teeth before you go looking for a fight with the final Deathbird. It’s recommended to challenge it near the end of the game. Anyway, last but definitely not least Deathbird resides on the western side of the Mountaintops Of The Giants region.

Fast-travel to the Ordina, Liturgical Town Site of Grace, and wait until night. Head west, and you will notice a frozen lake below a golden tree (the Erdtree Sapling). Get on the lake and go to the right (in the northern direction), and you will come across an empty area at the end. That’s the place where the battle between the Tarnished and the final Deathbird will take place. Keep in mind that you must enter the empty arena fully and then exit. Otherwise, the Deathbird won’t spawn. Defeating it will reward you with the Explosive Ghostflame.

  • The Explosive Ghostflame allows the wearer to inflict Frostbite on enemies. It also adds a burning effect in the surrounding area, which inflicts 130 initial explosion damage and 38 damage per tick.
