The world of Stardew Valley is constantly growing, acquiring plot twists and secrets, and Update 1.6 brought a lot to the game. In this update, Stardew Valley players will have to go down to the Mayor’s Basement after learning Lewis’s darkest secret, which he is willing to pay for and will result in many reactions from the residents of Pelican Town.
Luckily, getting into the Mayor’s Basement is relatively easy. You only need to increase the level of friendship with the mayor to at least two hearts and craft a ladder. But this is only the beginning of the journey because, once you get to the desired location, you’ll have a long way to go, a battle, and many new pieces of dialogue to uncover. However, the reward for doing so is worth the effort.
Stardew Valley: How to Get the Well-Read Achievement/Trophy
Well-Read is a new achievement in Stardew Valley that only nerdy players can unlock; here’s how to achieve this milestone as quickly as possible.
How To Get To The Mayor’s Basement In Stardew Valley
As stated earlier, you will have to befriend Lewis before you can unlock the Mayor’s Basement in Stardew Valley. Communicate with him and give him gifts so that he will let you into the house and his bedroom. This will become possible once you reach two friendship hearts, after which you should head to the room on the right.
You can visit the Mayor’s Manor between 8:30 am and 10 pm or any time if you have already received the Key to the Town. In addition, you will also need a Staircase, which you can craft for 99 Stone. Next, go to the bedroom and try to place the Staircase in the middle of the room in the lower left corner of the bed. By doing this, you will automatically teleport to the Mayor’s Basement.
You will find yourself in a dark labyrinth, so we strongly recommend taking a couple of dozen torches with you to light the way. It’s easy to get through the maze in the light, which is good news because you’ll soon have to run away. Once you reach the end of the maze, you will find Lucky Purple Shorts. It is not entirely clear why the mayor keeps them here and what secret they keep, but having picked them up, the immortal ghost Purple Shorts will appear in front of you, which will cause damage and haunt you until you leave.
Grab your Lucky Purple Shorts and run as fast as you can. After leaving the basement, the ghost will stop chasing, and if you return, you can pick up another pair of Lucky Purple Shorts and run away from the ghost again. You can do this as much as you want, and it makes sense to do so. After all, this item has many more uses than you might expect.
Stardew Valley: How to Get the ‘A Distant Shore’ Achievement/Trophy
