In Helldivers 2 there are currently two enemy factions that Super Earth is at war with, the robot Automatons and the bug Terminids, and a new faction called The Illuminate could be coming to the game soon. Each faction has a variety of enemies, all needing different fire power and play styles to effectively take care of. Many players choose for the more run-and-gun style, opting to go on a frenzy and destroy everything that stands in their way, but not every member of a squad should use that play style and one Helldived thanked those that decided to take a back seat in order to take on more of a support role.
U/Zztp0p took to Reddit to praise players that choose to focus on carrying a heavy load out to take out larger, armored enemies such as gunships, Chargers, and Titans, rather than having fun running-and-gunning and shooting everything in sight.
They showed appreciation for these types of players saying “I really think we should appreciate everyone who, for the sake of the team, uses heavy anti-tank weaponry like EAT Recoilless or Quasar so that others can choose whatever they want.” They further noted that “These players often have the lowest kills but take out the most dangerous units like Gunships, Chargers, Titans, etc.” Before concluding saying “If you are this kind of player, thank you for allowing me to fool around a bit with machine guns or lower-caliber Eagles or simply testing less effective alternatives,” before finally saying that they “love this community.”
Other players agreed with the post, and others appreciated the recognition, with u/Diverno1111 saying “I am that player… but no appreciation needed. I have 0 trust in you or the others being capable to do anything.”
U/Smallsthehappy appreciated the post, while also noting that they wondered if they were being selfish with their chosen play style saying “I just like blowing the heads off Chargers, Titans, Devastators, etc so I usually only bring the fire power I need to achieve that end. I was actually starting to wonder if that was a selfish way to play.”
With so many weapons to choose from and enemy types to eradicate, it can be difficult to figure out what load out you should be using. To ensure you become a key part of your squad, we highly recommend checking out our Helldivers 2 best weapons guide and best armor guide.
