Players are going to need a whole lot of Wyrmslife Crystals in Dragon’s Dogma 2 to obtain the best gear, so here are the best ways to farm for them.

Much like in the original game, NPC affinity is something that players will want to pay attention to, especially since there are a few important characters early in Dragon’s Dogma 2 that are worth being friends with as soon as possible.

How Affinity Works in Dragon’s Dogma 2

Simply put, Affinity refers to how much an NPC likes you. This system affects most NPCs, including vendors, your main pawn, and some important story characters. For most players, affinity will only ever be an issue if they’re trying to romance one of the few available options in the game. Following Ulrika’s romance path in Dragon’s Dogma 2, for example, demands that players have a high affinity with her. You’ll know that you have high affinity with an NPC if they blush when you speak with them.

Raising your affinity with an NPC will net you rewards, though this highly depends on who you become friends with. For example, helping Flora out in the Medicament Predicament quest will increase your affinity with her grandfather, Auriol. In doing so, you’ll get the Chirurgeon’s Tome, which is used to give your pawn the Chirurgeon specialization. Additionally, NPCs whom you have high affinity with will send gifts to your house (if you have one).

Giving gifts in Dragon’s Dogma 2 is the simplest way to increase affinity with an NPC. You can find out what items a character likes by taking a look at your NPC Logbook. Find the character you want to befriend, and pay attention to the Likes section at the bottom of their info card. You’ll see different kinds of items — here’s what they mean:

  • Beautiful Items: Flowers and ores
  • Adorable Items: Flowers and fruits
  • Expensive Items: Valuables
  • Interesting Items: Weapons, armor, monster drops
  • Fancy Items: Spellbooks, rare monster drops, rare potions
  • Rare Items: Rare monster drops

As mentioned above, quests will also increase the affinity of certain NPCs towards you. They will generally favor the person who helped them out during their time of need. However, not all NPCs have quests tied to them. If you want to increase the amount of affinity gained for every favorable action you do, use the Allure augment from Dragon’s Dogma 2’s new Trickster vocation.

Dragon's Dogma 2 Pawns-1

Your main pawn is also affected by the affinity system. You’ll become closer with your pawn if you:

  • Talk to them
  • Give them a high five after a battle
  • Take them to the hot spring
  • Take them to the barber
  • Pick them as your beloved during the Sphinx quest

Reaching high pawn affinity will make them more affectionate toward you. This won’t have much of an impact on gameplay, but it’ll make a noticeable difference once you reach the true ending of the game.
