Stardew Valley Creator Gives Update on Patch 1.6 for Consoles and Mobile

The creator of Stardew Valley addresses fans, giving them an update on the in-development console and mobile versions of Update 1.6.

Stardew Valley player Oasis_951 made the mistake of crafting 137 casks before realizing that they need to be placed in a cellar, not just a shed, to be usable. Casks in Stardew Valley can be utilized in the cellar of the farm house for aging juices and wines, increasing their quality and sale value. Before using the casks, players need to use kegs to convert hops, berries, vegetables and more into liquids. While the kegs can be placed anywhere on the farm, the casks can only be placed in a cellar. Unfortunately for Oasis_951, they were unaware of this key detail and crafted 137 casks to place in a newly built shed, only for them to learn that the casks were completely useless without a cellar to put them in.

Fellow members of the Stardew Valley community offered their sympathies, with many sharing their own stories of making the exact same mistake. Users offered a variety of potential solutions, including mods for the PC version of the game that allow casks to be placed anywhere on the map and the possibility of using an extra controller to run a local co-op mode and upgrade the shed to get a cellar added on. Others pointed to the Deconstructor machine in Stardew Valley as a way to salvage back some of the materials used to craft the 137 casks. While the ambitious plan proved somewhat costly for Oasis_951, they shared in the amusement of the mix-up and planned to try their luck with some of the proposed solutions.

Update 1.6 has drawn in a record number of players for Stardew Valley, with new and returning fans enjoying the fresh content, bug fixes, and gameplay alterations. In spite of the occasional misunderstanding of game mechanics, players continue to find plenty to love about Stardew Valley.
