A recent update for Helldivers 2 has added new environmental challenges and raised the level cap. Players can now expect blizzards and sandstorms, termed “planetary hazards.” These will make missions more difficult by reducing visibility and potentially affecting movement.
As if being a Helldiver wasn’t hard enough, extreme weather conditions are coming, according to the newest update. Also, any players who have reached the previous maximum rank will be pleased to know they can progress further. The level cap has been tripled from 50 to 150. This huge new goal is great news for any Helldivers looking for new objectives to pursue. Arrowhead, the game’s developer, has hinted at introducing new titles for players who reach these higher levels.
The latest patch notes include several important changes and various adjustments to balance the game. For example, missions like “Retrieve Essential Personnel” have been made easier by adjusting enemy spawn locations and reducing the completion requirements. Meanwhile, the mission type “Destroy Command Bunkers,” which was previously considered too easy, now features additional objectives. Additionally, negative operation modifiers that previously impacted stratagem cooldown times have been reduced. This should help make these missions less challenging.
Several weapons and tactics have been adjusted. The Arc Thrower now causes more stagger force, and fire damage from all sources has been increased by 50%. The damage output of select weapons, such as the Breaker Incendiary and Anti-Material Rifle, has been boosted too. The Patriot Exosuit’s rockets now require direct hits to penetrate armor. Various enemies in the game have also been adjusted, with changes to damage and behavior.
Numerous overall improvements have been made in the update, including a fix for PS5 save settings resetting and a bug that made Exosuits less visible to enemies. Arrowhead is also working on cross-play problems, particularly with friend invites. For those of us who are waiting on an Xbox version, we’re out of luck. There is still no timeline for when a port will come to the Xbox—if it ever does.
