Re: YOU SAID IT: Fourth anniversary of tyranny, letter to the editor, online, March 17

The true definition of tyrant is “a dictator, despot, oppressor and absolute ruler.” Neither Justin Trudeau nor Doug Ford nor any other of the premiers is a tyrants, nor do Canadians live in a tyranny.
For those who have not lived and experienced tyranny in countries such as Russia, China and North Korea, leading Canadians to believe that we live in a tyranny is like believing that chickens have teeth.
Our fathers, mothers and grandparents have fought through world and regional wars to protect our democracy from dictators and rulers who wish to impose total control on the rights and freedoms of individuals.
Canadians live in a democratic country no matter what some might pretend.

WE HAD NO CHOICE
Re: YOU SAID IT: Fourth anniversary of tyranny, letter to the editor, online, March 17
The opinions of the letter-writer are ones I cannot concur with. COVID was new. Devastating and virulent. We had no vaccine. Countries kept what they had. It swept across Europe with devastating results. U.S> President Donald Trump played down the vaccine. One million-plus Americans died.
We had no choice but to do what we did. Yet, the convoy protest people occupied our city, turned our streets into party central and made inhabitants suffer. Hours of blaring horns, smoke fumes and harassment.
COVID was very hard for everyone. Implying that the measures taken were tyrannical, draconian and abusive is appalling. Do the elderly, the ill and medically vulnerable not count? We live in the time of me. How very sad. We cared about others before. How else could we have gotten through this devastating pandemic? We did our best.

BUYING VOTES
When is Justin Trudeau going to stop giving our money away? Does he realize or even care that the money is not his, that it belongs to all Canadians? Not surprisingly, Trudeau is using our money to buy Liberal votes.
