Helldivers 2 is one of the most popular co-op tactical shooter games that we have seen in some time, and is designed perfectly to be played with a team and is the ideal way to play. Unfortunately, if you’re not playing Helldivers 2 with friends, you are at the mercy of who you get paired with and not everyone is a good team player. In recent weeks there have been many complaints about reasons why players have been kicked from lobbies, wasting all of the hard work put into the mission.
A Reddit post highlighted players being willing to kick a player for not staying together as a team. The reasoning is that going alone increases enemy spawns. The post features a conversation between a squad who is threatening to kick a level 47 player for wandering off alone, with the claim that doing so will increase the spawns or enemies, which makes the mission harder overall.
The community on Reddit took to the comments to their share own experiences with dealing with toxic players. U/Evil_Ermine shared their experiences with being kicked from the game saying,
“Reasons I’ve been kicked from games recently, being level 47, picking up my own support weapon, calling down a mech to take out a nest, playing the objective, not reviving while getting tossed around by 3 charges.”
Unfortunately, many players have had similar experiences, or run-ins with toxic players that would kill their teammates just to be petty. U/K4kkulpio summed the state of the game up perfectly saying “Tryhards gotta tryhard? People are so concerned about being optimal that the fun gets forgotten somewhere along the way as people become assholes.”
If you’re running into a lot of players like this that will kick you for no justified reason, the best thing to do is be the host of your lobby and then you are in control of who is in the game and can’t be kicked. It is frustrating that this is a route you may have to take. This behavior by the community could have a long-term negative effect on Helldivers 2 and could drive players away, so this is something Arrowhead Game Studios should look to address as soon as possible.
One way to avoid being kicked is to become a valuable member of the team. This can be done by checking out our Helldivers 2 best weapons and best armor guides to help you learn the meta and create your perfect loadout and build for your character.
