A release sent out Thursday stated popular Hungarian forward Fanni Gasparics would be shelved with a lower-body injury following Tuesday’s 4-3 shootout setback at the Xcel Energy Center in Minnesota.
Before last Saturday’s 5-2 home-ice loss to Toronto, it was announced that forward Kristin Della Rovere would miss the rest of the campaign with a wrist injury requiring surgical repair.
“We’ve been very happy to have Fanni on our team this season,” general manager Mike Hirshfeld said in the release. “She plays an important role in our team. Her positive attitude allowed her to quickly find her place within our organization.”
Gasparics had one goal in 15 games, while Della Rovere had one goal in nine games.
With nine games remaining, Ottawa is in fifth place, one point behind Boston in the race for the final playoff spot.
Ottawa’s next game is Sunday at 4 p.m. against first-place Montreal at Place Bell in Laval.
