The latest patch for Helldivers 2 just added planetary hazards to the game. As if the Automaton and Terminid threats weren’t enough, planets will now have random effects that may impede your democratic operations.

Watch out for fire tornadoes and tremors in Helldivers 2
According to the latest patch notes, ‘many planets now have additional environmental challenges that will appear at random while you are deployed, from fire tornadoes to meteor showers and many more.’ These are random effects and players are already reporting sightings of them. I just went in for a match and experienced tremors, a condition that slows movement speed and makes you vulnerable to enemy attacks at random.
It’s an interesting addition that will certainly shuffle the nine difficulty settings with new dangers. Remember that the patch brings other changes too like longer extraction operations and an array of buffs and nerfs. Situational awareness will be even more important now with these weather effects. Expect each of them to change gameplay in a certain way. We aren’t sure if these will be specific to planets or the time of day at which you embark on operations for medals.
Look out for these warnings at the top of your HUD. It will appear in a red box, just like Bug Breaches when you face the Terminid faction. Other players on Reddit had reported seeing fire tornadoes from afar earlier. But now that the update is out on PC, those effects should have a drastic impact on how you approach operations in Arrowhead’s title.
