Pokemon Fan Designs Female Version of Probopass

Pokemon Fan Designs Female Version of Probopass

A Pokemon enthusiast created a female version of the Pokemon Probopass, swapping its iconic mustache for flowing locks. The feminine rendition was affectionately named Probomaam, transforming the mini-noses into adorable Pokemon pups.

Probopass is a Pokemon introduced in Generation 4, a dual-type Rock Steel evolution of Nosepass from Generation 3. Like Magneton and Charjabug, evolving into Probopass requires leveling up Nosepass in a special magnetic field. In Pokemon Legends: Arceus and Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, a Thunder Stone is needed for evolution. In-game, Probopass has a gender ratio of 50% male and 50% female, but its appearance remains the same regardless of gender.

Perhaps that’s why Reddit user JJonnie opted for a makeover, creating a female version of Probopass. Affectionately nicknamed Probomaam, the artist modified Probopass’s iconic mustache, relocating it to the head and adorning the Pokemon with stylish hair. Typically, Probopass has three small objects on the sides called mini-noses, which the Pokemon can control. The female version turned these mini-noses into mini-Probopass, resembling adorable offspring of Probomaam. The attention to detail in this new Pokemon is so intricate that it could pass as a new addition to the Pokedex.

Fans have often drawn variants of existing Pokemon, with a preference for designing new branching evolutions, creating new Mega versions, or Paradox forms. Some enthusiasts even cross over with other works, as seen with an artist recreating Pokemons based on famous magical girls, providing a novel perspective to the pocket monsters.

Despite numerous fan creations, blatantly feminine versions of existing Pokemon are scarcer than their counterparts. Discussions about gender in Pokemon have always been somewhat nebulous within the franchise, though many players primarily consider it for breeding purposes and shiny hunting. However, The Pokemon Company has hinted in the past that it has considered the addition of non-binary Pokemon, which could be a step towards inclusivity and change some aspects of gameplay, specifically when procreating new ones.

Only time will tell what The Pokemon Company and Game Freak have in store for fans. With Pokemon Legends Z-A slated for 2025 and set in a more contemporary setting, some changes may be seen in this new title, which has already confirmed the return of Mega Evolutions. If not, fans need not worry because if there’s one thing certain in the gaming industry, it’s that Pokemon will endure for many years to come.
