As Helldivers 2 players across the world engage in spreading managed democracy, few adopt stealth against bug infestations and robot factories. While the game does have smoke strikes and allows you to crawl while prone, it’s been difficult to thin out enemy numbers without going loud. But a post from Arrowhead Game Studios’ CEO offers a glimmer of hope for stealth fans.
The Helldivers 2 CEO just teased stealth options for players
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), CEO Johan Pilestedt casually mentions using subsonic ammo and a suppressor during playtests. This means that these were tested at some point during Helldivers 2’s development, causing players to debate over when they could use these sneaky tools. While he hasn’t confirmed that these items will make their way into the game, it could provide new opportunities when it comes to evading enemy patrols.
On higher difficulties, it’s usually better to focus on the objective over taking down every robot and bug you can spot. This would be easier with silenced weapons, paving a path for gamers to tackle threats silently. In fact, the post that the Arrowhead CEO responded to was of a player sneaking about and tricking robots. Options like subsonic ammunition and suppressors could make weaker weapons like pistols more viable. It might also herald the arrival of true weapon customization to Helldivers 2.
While this isn’t an official confirmation, it’s a sign that Arrowhead Game Studios has plenty of surprises in store for players. You might just be able to evade a Bile Titan more easily soon.
