Epic Games will release another Fortnite update this week. This will be the final update of Chapter 5 Season 1, which is why we expect it to be massive. As it’s a major update, it will bring new cosmetics, gameplay changes, and possibly event files. However, there are a couple of things we would specifically like to see in the next update.
Thanks to the early Fortnite patch notes, we have an idea of what Epic has prepared for the next update. Considering that this will be the last update of the season, make sure to check out our best XP maps in Fortnite to boost your level and unlock all Battle Pass rewards. Furthermore, you should unlock all the free skins before they expire.
We want these things in the next Fortnite update
1) Disney collaboration
Epic Games and Disney recently announced a long-term partnership that will bring a lot of new content to Fortnite. This partnership likely won’t result in any collaborations soon, although we are hoping for some Disney skins in the next Fortnite update.
The media company has numerous amazing characters who would make great Fortnite skins. From Mickey Mouse to Simba, Disney has a lot to offer. Limited-time events with popular characters would be a great idea, but if not, we’d at least like to see a couple of skins in the Item Shop.
2) Improved matchmaking
Epic is known for releasing some big-time updates at the end of the season. Considering that matchmaking has been quite problematic for a long time, we’d like to see some improvements. The matchmaking system can be easily manipulated, which is something many players use to their advantage. This usually wouldn’t be a problem, but they ruin fun for others, which is why Epic needs to fix it.
The Fortnite developer has never revealed its formula for skill-based matchmaking, yet it’s obvious that it has massive flaws. Fixing matchmaking would make the game more enjoyable for everyone, especially for casual players, who are a majority in Fortnite.
3) First-person mode
The first-person mode in Fortnite has been in development for a long time. Considering how long Epic Games has worked on it, it wouldn’t be surprising if it arrives with the next Fortnite update. Unfortunately, it will probably come with a new season, despite our wishes.
This mode would drastically change Fortnite and make it feel fresh and new. According to leakers, this will be an optional mode, meaning that we’ll be able to switch between it and a third-person mode. However, the release date of this feature is currently unknown.
4) Overtime challenges for free Battle Pass
Back in Chapter 1 Season 7, Epic Games released so-called Overtime challenges. For the first time in Fortnite history, the game developer allowed players to earn a free Battle Pass. These challenges were quite easy and they resulted in the player count skyrocketing for a week.
Fortnite’s player count has been impressive over the past few months, and releasing a free Battle Pass would likely result in new records. Considering that many amazing games have come out recently, including Palworld and Helldivers 2, Epic could use an additional boost in Fortnite’s popularity. Due to this, we’re hoping to see overtime challenges come with the next Fortnite update.
5) Removal of SBMM
Skill-based matchmaking has been one of the main complaints since Fortnite Chapter 2. It’s one of the main reasons why matchmaking needs to be fixed, although removing it altogether might be a better option. However, we would like the next update to remove Fortnite’s skill-based matchmaking only from casual modes. Competitive playlists should have this feature enabled.
While this certainly wouldn’t fix all the problems with the game, and many players would likely still complain about the difficulty, it’d be a step in the right direction.
6) Power Rangers
Epic has released numerous Fortnite collaborations, and we’re hoping for another one in the next update. There have been some rumors about a potential Power Rangers collab over the past few weeks, which would be a dream come true for many fans.
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles collaboration is scheduled to end in late February, which gives Epic a bit more than a week for another collab. However, even if this happens, it’s unlikely that we will get a Power Rangers in-game event due to the lack of time.
