Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered is now out and it’s an absolutely perfect package for fans of old-school Lara Croft. The trilogy provides a good and optional layer of paint to Lara’s first three original games without tarnishing the PS1 classics at all. While we’re eager to see what Crystal Dynamics is planning next, Tomb Raider fans may also get their wish of more remasters judging by an in-game hint.
There’s no denying the incredible popularity of Miss Lara Croft. She has recently appeared in Call of Duty and Magic The Gathering, and she remains the most popular crossover skin in Fortnite of all time. She has also had a new video game installment released on every generation of PlayStation besides the PS5 which is bound to change in the future with Tomb Raider 12 officially in development.
Crystal Dynamics has revealed that Tomb Raider 12 will unify the Survivor, Legend, and original Core Design timelines. They have also given us our first proper look at what Lara Croft will look like in the next new game, and it’s a fantastic throwback with modern touches. While Survivor Lara Croft finally becoming the Tomb Raider we all know and love is relieving, extra good news is that more remasters may be on the way.
Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered includes hint for more remasters
Tomb Raider fans online have found a hint at more remasters included in the 1-3 Remastered trilogy. Twitter user danthedan20 uploaded a screenshot from the game that includes the release date for 1-3 Remastered in the top right corner with coordinates in the bottom left. These coordinates are NEXT 29.9792.
These coordinates point to the city of Giza in Egypt which is where the Last Revelation almost fully takes place. It would be amazing to see a remaster of Tomb Raider The Last Revelation, but it would feel incomplete without Chronicles as that would give us remasters for every TR PS1 classic. Then you could make the case for Angel of Darkness as it was the final game from Core Design.
In a perfect world, there will be a remastered volume 2 package that includes the Last Revelation and Chronicles, as well as possibly Angel of Darkness. Hopefully, this happens as Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered is a perfect throwback to the glory days of the series where Lara Croft was a badass action hero with charm and pizzazz.
While we don’t know that more remasters are officially happening, we do know that Crystal Dynamics is working hard on Tomb Raider 12. We know that TR 12 is using Unreal Engine 5, will be published by Amazon, and will unify the Survivor, Legend, and original Core Design timelines with the Survivor trilogy the canonical origin for Lara Croft.
No gameplay has been shown off yet, but Crystal Dynamics has shared our first glimpse at the new Lara Croft through artwork. This artwork is very positive as it’s pretty much identical to her look in Magic The Gathering and Call of Duty as a throwback to old-school Lara Croft in the iconic blue tank top and cargo shorts while rocking dual pistols and a braid.
