Final Fantasy: 7 Best Fathers In The Franchise, Ranked
There’s no shortage of awesome father figures in Square Enix’s successful JRPG franchise, Final Fantasy. These are the best, ranked up.
Try as he might, Joshua eventually gets killed in a battle involving Ifrit. There are two twists to this story which are spoilers, so be prepared. First, Joshua does not die, and second, Clive was Ifrit all along. Clive could be considered a bad brother if he had almost killed his brother on purpose, but he didn’t. These other examples are indeed bad brothers to their kin though. There will be more spoilers.
7 Biran And Yenke
Final Fantasy 10
Final Fantasy 10
- Released
- December 17, 2001
- Genre(s)
- JRPG
Biran and Yenke are brothers who constantly make fun of Kimahri throughout Final Fantasy 10. Their big moment was on Mt. Gagazet as they turn into a boss fight, wherein Kimahri has to prove himself worthy of being a Ronso even though his horn is broken. They don’t go easy on him either, and it can be a tricky fight if players rarely use Kimahri in battle.
Which Ronso is the worst brother is hard to determine, as they are both equally terrible. They’re brothers to each other, but they are also spiritual brothers to Kimahri, as the Ronso species are very close-knit and traditional. They’re sort of like the Na’vi from the Avatar franchise in more ways than just their blue skin and large bodies.
6 Golbez
Final Fantasy 4
Final Fantasy 4
- Released
- July 19, 1991
- Developer(s)
- Square
- Genre(s)
- JRPG
Golbez is thought of as the big bad of Final Fantasy 4. He has a very Darth Vader-like presence as he towers above others before him, plus his suit of armor is elaborate and shiny. About halfway through the game, Cecil finds out that Golbez was brainwashed and didn’t want to fight against Cecil at all.
Final Fantasy: 7 Best Sisters In The Franchise, Ranked
These sisters from the Final Fantasy franchise show both devotion and strength, making them great siblings, but also great characters overall.
Also, Cecil is his brother, a detail he finds out right before Golbez dies. It’s a classic trope in Final Fantasy games now, as there is always someone behind the scenes pulling the strings. Final Fantasy 4 was one of the first entries to do it though, and it broke many barriers in the franchise beyond this example.
5 Black Waltz 3
Final Fantasy 9
Final Fantasy 9
- Released
- July 7, 2000
- Genre(s)
- JRPG
Vivi is one of the main playable characters in Final Fantasy 9. He looks like a stereotypical Black Mage from the origins of the franchise and no one knows what is underneath that big hat. Moreover, it seems like Vivi is just a doll, manufactured by the kingdom for war.
This means that Vivi technically has a lot of brothers and sisters out there. Some of them are good and some of them are bad. Black Waltz 3 is at the top of the bad list as he pursues Vivi and his friends at the start of the game. He at least gets what’s coming to him in the end.
4 Kuja
Final Fantasy 9
Kuja is kind of in the same boat as Vivi when it comes to relativity in Final Fantasy 9. He is the main bad guy of the JRPG and is part of the same race as Zidane. What that race is never gets revealed, but they both have tails and wild powers.
It is vaguely hinted at that Kuja and Zidane are brothers, but whether that means they’re blood-related is unknown. They could just be brothers in the same way that all Ronso are family in Final Fantasy 10. Calling Kuja a bad brother to Zidane then may be a bit of a stretch, but he certainly is a terror, no doubt about that.
3 Vayne
Final Fantasy 12
Final Fantasy 12
- Released
- October 31, 2006
- Genre(s)
- JRPG
Vayne is the main villain of Final Fantasy 12, although he is not as charismatically evil as other villains in the series. Vayne is more calm and collected as he draws plans to rule the world with his massive empire. Suspecting that Vayne is up to no good, his brother, Larsa, befriends Vaan and the others.
Larsa becomes a temporary party member under the alias of Lamont. The story makes it seem like Larsa is going to bite the big one in an attempt to stop his brother, but he lives while Vayne dies in a gross, super-deformed Hulk-like state. If only Vayne listened to Larsa (and to reason) he wouldn’t have perished so horrifically.
2 Delita
Final Fantasy Tactics
Final Fantasy Tactics
- Released
- June 20, 1997
- Developer(s)
- Square
Delita is a brother in more ways than one in Final Fantasy Tactics. He is blood-related to his sister, Tietra, whom he loves with all of his heart. Those two were raised alongside the hero, Ramza, and his sister Alma, making them all one big happy family.
Final Fantasy: The 10 Strongest Villains In The Series, According To Lore
Final Fantasy has a multitude of titles to its name and just as many villains. But, according to lore, which are the strongest in the series?
That is, until Tietra gets kidnapped in the prologue of the game. When she dies, something inside Delita changes. He doesn’t become a villain as much as he is an antagonist to Ramza’s plans. Delita is not doing right by his sister or his surrogate family in Ramza and Alma.
1 Kadaj/Loz/Yazoo
Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children
- Director: Tetsuya Nomura
- Released: September 14, 2005
- Studio: Visual Works, Square Enix
Kadaj, Loz, and Yazoo are all introduced in the movie spinoff, Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children. They are a stand-in for Sephiroth, since Cloud slashed him open in the finale of the original game. They are actually clones of Sephiroth, or clones of Jenova, as it is never made quite clear in the movie.
They’re brothers to each other, each more wicked and lame than the last, with Kadaj being the leader. This sort of makes them related to Cloud too, or at least the clone version of Cloud. Eventually, Kadaj merges with Jenova’s cells to become Sephiroth as if Pikachu touched a Thunder Stone and became Raichu. Again, the relationships in that movie are a bit buck wild, but there sure are some cool fight scenes to be sure.
