The Ashen Corsair is an investigation in Skull and Bones that is available to players who purchase the Premium Edition. Unlike the majority of the game’s contracts, there is minimal waypointing during this investigation, and fans may find themselves lost as they attempt to complete it. For those players that are ineed struggling with the Ashen Corsair investigation in Skull and Bones, this guide contains full details on how to reach its conclusion and claim the associated rewards.
Skull and Bones: The Ashen Corsair Walkthrough
Unlock the Investigation
Players who have bought Skull and Bones‘ Premium Edition and want to complete the Ashen Corsair must begin by unlocking it, and that becomes possible upon reaching an Infamy Rank of Buccaneer and initiating any investigation. For those fans that have reached the requisite Infamy Rank, an investigation can be initiated in Sainte-Anne by interacting with an NPC that is marked with a purple eye icon, and that icon will also appear on the in-game map. Once the player has started that investigation, they should interact with the newspaper that is on the crates between the warehouse and the mailbox in Sainte-Anne to start the Ashen Corsair.

Skull and Bones: How to Get Bombardier Padewakang Ship Blueprint (Telok Penjarah Location)
This guide will help players find Telok Penjarah, a Den in Skull and Bones where the Bombardier Padewakang ship blueprint is sold.
Plunder Guerande
Upon initiating the Ashen Corsair, players will discover that the ship was last seen sailing towards Gerundae, a settlement that is situated just south of Sainte-Anne. For full clarity, the precise position of this settlement has been marked on the map that is above, and fans of pirate video games should hold the plunder input upon arrival to start the event. Players should then simply destroy the ships and loot the chests that appear during the plunder to progress the Ashen Corsair investigation.
Find Message in Bottle
Once the plunder of Guerande is complete, players should navigate to the Knowledge menu, select Investigations, and open the Ashen Corsair. Fans should then “Open Archive” on the investigation’s second page to reveal that the next step is locating a message in a bottle within the Western Basin.
The Western Basin is a zone situated to the northwest of Sainte-Anne, and it is home to Ile Michel, a point for fast travel in Skull and Bones. Unfortunately, the position in which the bottle appears within that zone is seemingly random, and it is thus not possible to provide an exact location. However, players who are methodical in searching the Western Basin will ultimately see an illuminated spot in the water, and that illumination marks the bottle that they can collect.
The message in a bottle that is connected to the Ashen Corsair investigation is not the only one that can appear within that part of
Skull and Bones
‘ map
. As such, if the investigation does not update after a bottle is collected, players must continue their search until they find the correct one.
Sink the Ashen Corsair
Players should now “Open Archive” on the third page of the Ashen Corsair investigation to reveal that the Three Brothers, an outpost that is northeast of Sainte-Anne, is the next area of interest. As fans of live-service games draw near to that outpost, they should use their spyglasses to examine the ships that they encounter, stopping only when they find the Ashen Corsair. Once that vessel is located, players should destroy it and then “Open Archive” on the investigation’s final page to complete the Ashen Corsair.
